T. Scott Sullivan has been the head coach of the men’s golf program at Colorado Mesa University since the 2018-2019 season and is now in his eighth season in charge. Sullivan also served as an assistant to the CMU Men’s team in 2011-2012 and took on the added responsibility as the CMU Director of Golf to oversee the women's program in the summer of 2023.
The Mavericks have qualified for the NCAA South Central/West Regional every season since he took over the program and took second at the 2022 regional to qualify for the NCAA National Championshps for the first time, where they finished 18th.
In Sullivan's first year as head coach, the Maverick men qualified for the NCAA South Central/West Regional after placing third at the RMAC Championships a week prior. The qualification marked the first time since the 2011-12 season that the Mavericks had advanced for the post season as a team. The Mavs finished 11th that year before CMU returned to the regional round in 2021, improving to a 10th-place finish, after the 2020 NCAA tournament was canceled due to COVID.
After the record-setting season in 2021-2022, the Mavericks have continued to flourish, taking second at the 2024 RMAC Championships and sixth at the regional tournament, falling just two shots out of another national tournament bid.
The 2024-25 squad then smashed the program's scoring record with a 286.03 team scoring average mark, led by all-American Cole Beyer, who smashed the individual record with a 69.45 scoring average.
In his time with the Mavericks, Sullivan has guided his players to 17 All-RMAC honors. They have also shined academically, picking up a multitude of academic honors and won the 2024-25 RMAC Brechelr Award for having the highest team GPA In the conference.
Sullivan has been involved in business during his professional career. He is a CPA and has worked in various capacities with different companies serving as Chief Financial Officer, and most recently as President of a manufacturing company in Grand Junction, where he remains a board member.
As a golfer, Sullivan was a two time all-conference selection in golf at Citrus College in Azusa, California, subsequently graduating from San Diego State University with a bachelor's of science degree in business and acccounting.
Sullivan also has national and international playing experience on his playing résumé. He is a five time USGA qualifier, including the 2010 U.S. Senior Open played at Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Washington, and made it to the round of 16 in the 2018 U.S. Senior Amateur played at Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Oregon. He recently played in the British Senior Amateur in Scotland at North Berwick and 2019 U.S. Senior Amateur at Old Chatham in Durham, North Carolina.
He has been married to his wife Deena (Mrs. Coach) for 43 years. They have two children; Kyle who also played college golf (daughter-in-law Kindal) and Karli (son-in-law Connor), and three grandchildren; Palmer, Ivy, and Sloane.
