Volleyball
- The Mavericks (12-5, 6-2 RMAC) opened up a 3-match, 5-day homestand with a pair of key 4-set wins over visiting Colorado Christian and CSU Pueblo over the weekend.
- The Mavs, who continue to receive votes in the AVCA NCAA Division II Top 25 Poll, will wrap up the homestand on Tuesday at 6 p.m. against Westminster (11-7, 4-4 RMAC) in Brownson Arena before heading to Golden to face the Colorado School of Mines (14-4, 5-3 RMAC) in their lone weekend match on Friday at 7 p.m.
- Fans for Tuesday's match are encouraged to wear white.
- Freshmen Henley Madsen and Ashlyn Tafoya both recorded season-highs and double-doubles in Friday's win over Colorado Christian. Madsen had 17 kills and 15 digs in her best collegiate match to date while Tafoya recorded 47 assists and 10 digs.
- The Mavericks then took down RMAC-leading CSU Pueblo on Saturday afternoon, ending the ThunderWolves 9-match winning streak while handing them their first RMAC loss.
- Sadie Scoville, playing against some of her former teammates, recorded an 18-kill, 15-dig double-double while Tayofa registered her third straight double-double with 36 assits and 13 digs.
- Madsen also added 11 more kills against the Pack.
- First-year Maverick Head Coach Austin Albers claimed his 250th collegiate win against CSU Pueblo, where he had been the head coach for the previous six seasons. He now has 105 wins at the NCAA level after winning 145 times at the junior college level at Laramie County (Wyo.) Community College.
- The Mavericks are now tied for fourth with Fort Lewis in the very tight RMAC standings, which see MSU Denver, UCCS and CSU Pueblo leading the way at 7-1. The Mavs have already played five of the seven other teams currently in the RMAC Tournament field and will play the other two this week before facing four teams currently outside the top eight in their four final conference matches.
Football
- The Mavs (3-4, 2-3 RMAC) dropped a 28-22 heartbreaker to New Mexico Highlands on Saturday in Las Vegas, New Mexico, giving up the game-winning touchdown with just five seconds remaining.
- Four of the Mavs' five conference games this year, have been decided by seven points or less.
- The Mavs came from 19-7 down with two fourth-quarter touchdown runs by Aidan Taylor to take a 22-19 lead with 1:55 left before the Cowboys went on 10-play, 72-yard drive to win the game.
- Taylor had 21 carries for 167 yards and three touchdowns in the game, which was the fourth best rushing game in the RMAC this season in terms of yards.
- George Soppe finished with a game-high nine tackles, including 1 ½ for losses.
- Gibson Leafgreen also had seven tackles and a sack.
- The Mavs out-gained NMHU, 373-368 and held Jeffrey Jones, one of the nation's top running backs to 60 yards, far below his average of more than 200 per game.
- The Mavs are back at home this weekend hosting Fort Lewis (1-6, 0-5 RMAC) in the their homecoming contest. Kickoff at Stocker Stadium is at 2 p.m.
- The Skyhawks have dropped five straight and were shutout 41-0 by Chadron State at home last weekend.
Women's Soccer
- The Mavericks, ranked 20th  in last, week's national poll, continue to roll and post shutouts as the Mavs won their sixth and seventh consecutive games while extending their shutout streak to six with road wins over New Mexico Highlands and Adams State this weekend.
- CMU is now 10-2 overall and leads the RMAC standings with a 6-0 conference mark, good for 18 points.
- The Mavs have not conceded a goal in RMAC play and have held opponent scoreless for the last 567 minutes and 49 seconds of total game time.
- Early goals paved the way in both games as Olivia Bariao-Arce scored in the sixth minute of Friday's 2-0 win at New Mexico Highlands before Olivia Barrett scored a second minute goal against Adams State on Sunday, which proved to be the difference.
- Ellie Duncan also scored against New Mexico Highlands while Keely Wieczorek made three saves to record the shutout.
- The Mavs dominated the game, outshooting the Cowgirls 25-4.
- The Mavs then allowed just two total shots, none on goal, in the defensive 1-0 win at Adams State.
- Wieczorek now has nine shutouts this season, just one shy of her own school-record totals (10) from both 2023 and 2024.
- The Mavs now face a massive match on Friday at 6 p.m. in Golden as they will play at the Colorado School of Mines, which currently sits second in the RMAC standings a 6-1 and like CMU with 18 points. The Orediggers are 9-2-1 overall and were ranked 13th in last week's United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Coaches' Poll.
- The Mavs then head to Pueblo to face CSU-Pueblo (3-5-5, 2-2-3 RMAC) on Sunday at 11 a.m. to wrap up a stretch of four straight away matches.
- The RMAC Regular Season Championship and tournament seeding will be done on a points per match basis.
Men's Soccer
- The Mavs (6-4-2, 3-1-1 RMAC) claimed their third straight victory in their lone game of the week, beating Colorado School of Mines, 2-1 on the road on Sunday.
- Manuel Ponce Casas scored the game's first goal in the 33rd minute before Nathan Hernandez provided the game winner at the 62-minute mark from the penalty spot after Mines had tied the game in the 53rd minute.
- The Mavs finished the game with a 16-12 advantage in shots and took 15 corner kicks without conceding a corner kick.
- Goalkeeper Nathan Beck made five saves in the victory.
- CMU now sits third in the RMAC standings with 10 points through their first five conference matches and has five such matches left.
- They will be at home for three of those, including twice this weekend hosting Regis (4-5-3, 2-2-1 RMAC) on Friday night at 7 p.m. before taking on South Dakota Mines (6-4-3, 1-4-1 RMAC) in their Senior Day game at 1 p.m. on Sunday. The Mavs will honor their seven seniors following the game.
- CMU is unbeatean (4-0-1) in their five home matches so far this season.
Triathlon
- The Mavericks will turn their attention to the championship portion of the season racing in Sunday's Women's Collegiate Triathlon West Regional Championship in Fort Worth, Texas.
- The event will set the field and heat assignments for the Nov. 8 National Championships in Tempe, Arizona.
- The Mavericks are slated to race in the top wave of the regional, which will go off at 9:30 a.m. CST (8:30 a.m. Mountain).
- CMU is ranked 14th overall and fourth amongst amongst Division II teams in the latest (Oct. 8)Â Collegiate Triathlon Coaches Association's National Rankings.
- The Mavericks have four triathletes amongst the top 100 and three others ranked between No. 102-110 in the individual rankings.
- Freshman Alexandra Schipai is ranked 68th and has led the Mavs in both of the last two races.
- CMU finishes second amongst Division II squads at last year's regional championships after winning the previous five regional titles.

Men's Wrestling
- The Mavericks were picked atop the RMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, released last week.
- CMU received three first and three second place votes to top the poll with 33 points, ahead of Adams State (28) and the Colorado School of Mines (26).
- The Mavs also had three wrestlers named to the Preseason All-RMAC team in Alex Castenda (149 lbs.), Gabriel Carranza (197 lbs.) and Tyler Doyle (285 lbs.). That team was made up by the highest returning wrestler from last year's All-RMAC voting process.
- The Mavericks will hold an intrasquad scrimmage on Friday at 5 p.m. and then begin season with an exhibition tri-dual on Saturday, Nov. 1 against Northeastern Junior College and Colorado Northwestern Community College in Brownson Arena.
Women's Wrestling
- The Mavericks were picked second in the RMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, released last week.
- Simon Fraser, which won the regular season title for the second straight year, in 2024-25, topped the poll with 15 points and three first place votes. The Mavs had the other two first place votes and finished second with 14 points.
- CMU, which won the RMAC Tournament team title, did top the conference with five Preseason All-RMAC selections, made up of the top returning RMAC Tournament finisher from each weight class.
- The Mavs' picks were Sophia Cornish (110 lbs), Jojo McDaniel (117 lbs.), Lorianna Piestewa (124), Hania Halverson (131) and Celina Preston (Cooke) (145).
- McDaniel was named the RMAC Co-Freshman of the Year in 2024-25 and won the RMAC title while going 29-12.
- Piestewa finished 17-2Â and finished third at the national tournament as the Mavs' lone all-American from last year.
- The Mavs are also sixth in the National Wrestling Coaches Association's NCAA Women's Coaches Poll.
- The Mavs have 42 points in the Tournament Power Index with six wrestlers ranked inside the top 10 of their respective weight classes.
- That list includes Piestewa (2nd, 124 lbs.), Mia Zuniga (4th, 103 lbs.), Jayleen Sekona (4th, 207 lbs.), Bella Morales (5th, 110 lbs.), Gretchen Donally (7th, 145 lbs.) and McDaniel (10th, 117 lbs.).
- Zuniga is a transfer from King (Tenn.)
- The Mavs will hold an intrasquad scrimmage this Friday at 5 p.m. before opening up the regular season Saturday, Nov. 1 with the Fall Brawl, a tri-dual featuring Texas Woman's and Snow (Utah) College.
- The Mavs will also host the Maverick Open on Saturday, Nov. 2.
