COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— A pair of Colorado Mesa University freshmen picked up Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week honors that were announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.

Henley Madsen was named as the Offensive Player of the Week while Loveland, Colorado product
Ashlyn Tafoya was named as the Setter of the Week.
They helped the Mavericks to a 2-0 home weekend as the Mavs defeated Colorado Christian on Friday before posting another 4-set win over CSU Pueblo, which had come into the match on a 9-match winning streak and undefeated in RMAC play.
The Mavericks are now 12-5 overall and 6-2 in RMAC play and sit just one match out of a 3-way tie for the lead in the RMAC standings.
Madsen led the Maverick attack, recording 28 kills (3.50/set) and 33 total points (4.33/set) over the weekend. The 6-foot opposite hitter set season-highs for both kills (17) and digs (15) while recording her first double-double against Colorado Christian and then followed that up with 11 more kills against CSU Pueblo. She also recorded three aces and four blocks over the weekend.
Tafoya recorded 83 assists (10.38/set) and 23 digs (2.88/set) over the weekend and registered double-doubles in both matches. She also had four kills in each match and personally hit .471 while adding a pair of aces and three blocks.
The 5-foot-10 Thompson Valley High School graduate set a new-season high with 47 assists while recording 10 digs against Colorado Christian. She then had 36 assists and 13 digs in the win over CSU Pueblo.
The Mavericks will close out a 3-match homestand on Tuesday night hosting Westminster University (11-7, 4-4 RMAC) at 6 p.m. in Brownson Arena. The Mavs are encouraging fans to wear white clothing for the promotion.
