PUEBLO, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa women's golf team wrapped up the second round of the NCAA Division II Regional Preview at Pueblo Country Club on Tuesday (Oct. 14) in their second to last competition of the Fall.
The Mavericks finished in 18
th place out of 21 teams after shooting a two-round score of 643. They were one stroke better than their first-round score, firing a 21-over, 321 in Tuesday's final round. They finished ahead of conference foe Fort Lewis and three strokes behind Lone Star Conference opponent Angelo State.
Nationally ranked Dallas Baptist won the team title with a two-round score of 584. Cal State LA finished in second place, 26 strokes behind the Patriots.
Sophomore
Hunter Gledhill was the top finisher for the Mavericks with a T-23
rd place finish at 12-over, 154. In today's round, she had two birdies, five bogeys, and two doubles to finish at 7-over, 78. Her birdies came on the par-4, No. 1, which played as the fifth toughest in the tournament, and the par-5, No. 5 that played as the third toughest in the tournament.
Senior
Anju Ogi finished the tournament in a tie for 59
th place at 17-over, 159. Ogi shot 7-over, 78 with three birdies, six bogeys and two doubles in today's final round.
Payton Panzeri and
Hayden Hawley were the Mavericks No. 3 and No. 4 scorers on the day. Panzeri finished with an 11-over, 82 while Hawley finished at 12-over, 83.
DBU's Madison Ude earned individual medalist honors after finishing the tournament at even-par.
Colorado Mesa will play their final tournament of the Fall beginning on Friday, October 24 when they travel to the Hawaiian Islands for the Hawaii Pacific Sharks Shootout.
