INDIANAPOLIS— The Colorado Mesa University Mavericks will have four individual swimmers, a diver and both of their 200-yard medley relay teams in Wednesday night's championship finals and have qualified three other swimmers for the consolation heats through the preliminary rounds that were contested earlier in the day.

The finals will begin at 5:30 p.m. EDT (3:30 p.m. Mountain) and will be
streamed on NCAA.com.
200 Individual Medley
Senior
Sophia Bains reached the consolation final, placing 14
th in the morning preliminary round with a time of 2:03.48 to lead a group of three CMU women in the event.
Freshman
Taylar Hooton made her NCAA Championship debut, placing 29
th in 2:05.58, just off her altitude-adjusted career-best of 2:05.26. She was seeded 38
th coming in.
Tori Bartusiak also made her NCAA debut, finishing 38
th in 2:06.98.
On the men's side,
Marcos Otero finished 20
th with a time of 1:48.38, a one spot improvement over his No. 21 position on the pre-meet psych sheet at 1:47.70. He was one of six Mavs in the field.
Max Ayres finished 29
th at 1:49.09, just off his pre-meet seed time of 1:48.71, which had him ranked 35
th coming in.
Senior
John Walgast finished 30
th with a time of 1:49.29 in his first NCAA Championship race.
Mauricio Posadas was 35
th in 1:49.56 while
Ben Vester took 41
st in 1:51.00. Both of those Mavs were also swimming in an NCAA Championship race for the first time.
50 Free
Agata Naskret finished ninth in the preliminary heats to earn the top seed for the consolation finale. She turned in a time of 23.03 seconds. Freshman
Reagan Horn finished 18
th in 23.28 in her first NCAA Championship race and is the second alternate for Wednesday's finals.
Kendyll Wilkinson and
Ada Qunell, who both helped the Mavs take third in Tuesday afternoon's 800 free relay, were also in the field and placed 51
st (23.83) and 52
nd (23.88), respectively.
Richard Schmiedefeld, who earned first team all-America honors in the 800 Free Relay on Tuesday, claimed a lane in the consolation finals. He tied for 12
th with a career-best time of 19.93 seconds and will have a chance to earn points after coming into the meet ranked 23
rd on the psych sheets.
Kuba Kiszczak, who also swam on the Mavs' eighth place 800 Free Relay team on Tuesday, finished 24
th in 20.09 seconds, just off his career-best time of 20.05. He was seeded 29
th coming into the meet.
1000 Free
The Maverick women will have two representatives in the evening session as
Olivia Hansson and
Hanna Sasivarevic are seeded fifth and sixth, respectively. The top eight seeds swim at night while the others competed at the end of the morning preliminary session in a timed final format.
Sydnee O'Neil stands in tenth place after posting a time of 10:11.09 and will hope for three or more of the top seeded swimmers go slower than that in the evening session in order to score team points.
Haven Hinkle, who was making her NCAA championship debut, finished 25
th in 10:24.81.
The Maverick men will also have a representative in the evening session as
Jacob Troescher is seeded eighth.
Three other Maverick men competed in the morning.
Gavyn Tatge, seeded 27
th out of 33 on the pre-meet pscyh sheets will finish no lower than 17
th after posting a career-best time of 9:14.62, which has him in ninth place with the top eight still to swim. He won his heat and moves up four spots to fifth on the Mavs' all-time performers list.
He will hope for at least one of the top-seeded swimmers to go slower than his time on Wednesday evening, which would allow him to earn a first career All-America honor.
Gavin Anderson is currently in 19
th place finisher finishing in 9:20.48. Freshman
Braden Felio, who like Tatge, was making his NCAA debut, is in 25
th after swimming to a time of 9:36.81.
1m Diving
Mimi Licht, who barely missed on all-America honors last year, will earn first team honors after placing eighth in the preliminary round with an 11-dive score of 388.60 points.
Kenya Meyer finished 17
th with 362.30 points while
Talia Datilio was 20
th with 341.95 points.
200 Medley Relays
The Maverick women are the top seed with their school-record time of 1:39.38 from earlier this season. Indianapolis (1:39.42) and Nova Southeastern (1:39.46) have seed times just off that. The Mavs will swim in the third and final heat of the timed final event.
The CMU men will look to improve upon their No. 13 seed at 1:27.55 and will swim in the first of two heats to cap the night.
