DEWITT, Ill.— The Colorado Mesa University Mavericks placed all five scoring triathletes in the top 20 and recorded a strong third place overall finish as well as a second place finish amongst Division II teams at Saturday morning's Prairie State Collegiate Cup.
Freshman
Alexandra Schipai led the Maverick women's triathlon team for the second straight meet, placing 11
th with a time of one hour, four minutes, 18 seconds just one place ahead of senior teammate
Fiona Graves, who took 12
th in 1:04:41.
Josie Williams finished 15
th in 1:05:11 while
Sylvie Aardema Gagnon was 17
th in 1:05:44.
Nadine Klive rounded out the Mavs' top five with a 19
th place finish and a time of 1:05:50 as CMU finished with 511 points.
Drury won both the Division II and overall team title and had the top two and three of the top six individual finishers, including individual winner Estzer Vas. The Panthers scored 544 points.
San Francisco finished second overall with 534 points as the top Division I team while reigning Division III National Champions North Central finished fourth with 394.
The course featured a 750-meter swim in Clinton Lake, a 12-mile bike segment and a 3.2-mile run.
The Mavs will next race on Sunday, Oct. 26 at the West Regional Championships in Fort Worth, Texas.
