Tupaz, Klive claim Honorable Mention All-America honors

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.— Colorado Mesa University's Shantelle Tupaz and Nadine Klive were officially named as College Triathlon Coaches Association NCAA Division II Honorable Mention All-Americans after they led the Mavericks to a fourth place finish in the Division II portion of the standings at Saturday's Women's Collegiate Triathlon National Championships in Tempe, Arizona.

The Mavericks have now had multiple all-Americans in each of the past five years since 2021 and have placed fourth or higher in Division II at each of the last seven national championships, dating back to 2018.

Eleven different Maverick women have combined to win 20 CTCA All-America honors, with 19 of those coming in the last five years.

Tupaz, a sophomore out of Pleasanton, California, finished 17th amongst Division II triathletes in Saturday's event, placing 71st overall with a time of one hour, ten minutes, 38.1 seconds.

Klive, a senior from Harsefeld, Germany, was 20th amongst Division II finishers in 1:11:08.6 and placed 74th overall.

The CTCA recognized 21 triathletes in each of the three NCAA Divisions with the first seven in each division earning first team All-America accolades.  The eighth through 14th place finishers in each division garnered second team accolades while the 15th-21st place finishers each earned honorable mention plaudits.

Klive finishes her career as a 3-time honoree after earning second team honors as a freshman in 2022 before winning honorable mention plaudits as a sophomore in 2023.  She was just one place shy of another honor last year as well.

She is the third Maverick to ever earn three or more honors joining 2024 seniors Shannon Feran, the program's only 4-time all-American, and Torin Lackmann in that elite club.

Tupaz's all-America honor is the first of her career.
