GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.— The top-10 ranked Colorado Mesa University Maverick swimming and diving teams combined to win 22 of 26 events and set three NCAA Division II Championship provisional qualifying times en-route to a perfect 5-0 combined dual-meet record on Friday evening here during CMU Duals action at the El Pomar Natatorium.
The Maverick men, ranked eighth in the nation, won all but one of the 13 events and recorded 28 top-3 finishes while claiming comfortable 190-41 and 177-54 team wins over Augustana (S.D.) and No. 22 Colorado School of Mines in a triangular. They went 1-2 in nine events and had 1-2-3 sweeps in five of them and while extending their Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference dual-meet winning streak to ten with the win over Mines.
Meanwhile, the ninth-ranked Maverick women claimed ten event wins and extended their nearly 6-year old Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference dual-meet winning streak to 29 with 159-75 and 190-52 victories over No. 23 Mines and Western Colorado. They also crushed No. 21 Augustana, 169-73 in the other leg of the quadrangular.
The Maverick men had two NCAA qualifying efforts, both of which came in the 200-yard freestyle as school-record holder
Matheus Laperriere edged freshman teammate
Kuba Kiszczak by four one-hundredths of a second. Laperriere was clocked in 1:40.78 while Kiszczak was clocked in 1:40.82.
The Polish freshman then avenged the Brazilian redshirt sophomore's victory in the 100 free as Kiszczak turned in a time of 45.61. Laperreire touched in 45.84 while
