2023-24 (As a Junior):
Qualified for his third straight NCAA Division II National Championships… Finished 23rd in the 1000 Free (9:22.02), 27th in both the 400 IM (4:01.70) and 1650 Free (15:53.59) and 29th in the 500 Free (4:31.63)… Scored in four events at the RMAC Championships… Placed fifth in the 1000 Free and sixth in the 1650 Free… Was 15th in the 400 IM and 14th in the 500 Free prelims before scratching out of that event’s final… Also helped the Mavs win the “B” section of the 800 Free Relay… Turned in his best times of the season at the TYR/CMU Invitational, enabling him to qualify for the national meet… Set NCAA qualifying times of 4:27.71 (500 Free), 9:16.45 (1000 Free), 15:34.05 (1650 Free) and 3:57.61 (400 IM) during that meet… Won the 1000 Free… Ranks seventh in program history with his 500 Free Time… Voted on to the RMAC All-Academic First Team… Also named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team for the second straight year… Also claimed First Team CSCAA Scholar All-America honors for the third straight year.

Summer 2023: Set new personal-best LCM and YMCA Championship standard times of 2:01.13 (200 free), 4:12.46 (400 free) and 4:47.96 (400 IM) while representing Boise YMCA at the Speedo Sectionals in Idaho’s capital city… Was a 3-event finalist, placing second in the 1500 free, (16:38.65), third in the 800 free (8:41.36) and sixth in the 400 free.

2022-23 (As a Sophomore): Competed in 11 meets, including the RMAC and NCAA Championships, earning a variety of academic and athletic awards… Was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team and to the RMAC All-Academic First Team… Was also a First Team CSCAA Scholar All-American after qualifying for the NCAA Championships in four events… Placed 18th in the 1650 free, 20th in the 1000 free, 24th in the 500 free and 27th in the 400 IM at his second NCAA Championships… Earned two Second Team All-RMAC honors while scoring 53 combined team points in his four events at the RMAC Championships… Won the bronze medal in the 1650 free while claiming his other all-conference honor with a fourth place finish in the 1000 free… Had a season-best and NCAA “B” cut effort of 4:31.28 (altitude-adjusted) to finish sixth in the 500 free after finishing ninth in the 400 IM… Had secured his NCAA Championship spot at the mid-season TYR CMU Invitational, where he posted personal-best times in three events... Won the 1000 free in 9:15.93 (altitude-adjusted) to rank fourth in program history… Also took second in the 1650 free with an adjusted time of 15:29.75, which ranks him third in CMU lore… Ranks ninth in the 400 IM at 3:57.06 after placing third in that event at the TYR meet… Also took fourth in the 500 free with what was his then personal best of 4:31.73.

2021-22 (As a Freshman): Competed in ten meets, including both the RMAC and NCAA Division II National Championships… Qualified for the national meet in four events, finishing between 25th and 34th place… Placed 25th in he 1650 free, 28th in the 400 IM, 33rd in the 1000 free and 34th in the 500 free… Had a stellar RMAC Championships, finishing in the top five in all four events… Set altitude-adjusted season bests and national qualifying times in all four as well… Placed third in both the 1650 free and 400 IM to garner a pair of Second Team All-RMAC honors… Had converted times of 3:57.79 (400 IM) and 15:38.71 (1650 free)… Was fifth in both the 500 free and 1000 free with converted times of 4:32.76 and 9:25.73… Had won the 1000 free at the Air Force Duals en-route to Jan. 13 RMAC Swimmer of the Week honors… Was a First Team CSCAA Scholar All-American.

Prep: Award winning-swimmer for the Bishop Kelly High School Knights… Coached by Sarah Hale… Graduated in 2021… Served as team captain in the fall of 2019… Helped the team win three state titles in his 4-year varsity career… Also helped the team win the Academic Team State title in 2017-18… Won seven state titles in relay events while claiming three second place, one fourth place and one fifth place finish in individual events… Set the school record in the 200 medley relay, 100 breast and 400 freestyle relay… Set district and state records in the 200 medley relay, 100 free and 400 free relays… Named as the Knights’ most improved swimmer in the 2017 while setting the most season PR’s in 2019… Received the Outstanding Individual Scholastic Award from the Idaho High School Activities Association in 2018 and was the recipient of the Jack Cilek “Iron Knight” Award and scholarship in 2019.

Club: Competed for the Boise YMCA Swim Team… Coached by Todd Marsh… Was a 6-time individual qualifier for the YMCA Nationals… Was also a USA Swimming Futures Qualifier… Received the club’s Sue Shelton Award, given to the hardest worker in both 2017-18 and 2020-21… Placed fifth in three events (50 breast, 200 IM, 200 breast) at the 2020 Northwest Region YMCA Championships.

Personal: Is majoring in computer science… Aspires to become a software engineer and use his skills to help produce new technology and artificial intelligence… Son of Jim and Raquel Troescher… Has two sisters— Sarah and Rebecca… Rebecca is a track and field athlete at Boise State… Enjoys playing guitar, mountain biking, basketball and fishing.

Why I Chose CMU: “I chose CMU because of its stellar swimming program and the offered fields in computer science and engineering.”
