2023-24 (Junior): Swam in ten meets, including the RMAC Championships… Set several season-bests at the conference meet, including NCAA Championship provisional qualifying altitude-adjusted times of 1:39.78 (200 Free) and 1:47.62 (200 Back)… Finished fifth in the 200 Back, tenth in the 100 Back, 11th in the 200 Free… Posted a season-best of 49.79 (converted) in the 100 Back… Also placed 17th in the 200 IM after setting a season-best of 1:52.21 (converted) in that event during the TYR/CMU Invitational… Also swam the lead-off backstroke leg on the Mavs’ “B” heat winning 200 Medley Relay team during the RMAC Championships… Accounted for 31 ½ team points at the RMAC meet… Won the 200 Back in the Nov. 3 dual at Wyoming… Finished eighth on the RMAC’s season-long performance list in that event… Named to the RMAC All-Academic First Team.

2022-23 (Sophomore): Competed in all 11 swimming meets, including the RMAC and NCAA Division II Championships… Qualified for the NCAA meet in three events, finishing 18th in the 200 back, 31st in the 200 free and 43rd in the 200 IM…  Won the silver medal and First Team All-RMAC honors in the 200 back after posting a personal-best time of 1:46.38 in that discipline at the TYR CMU Invitational… Ranks fourth in CMU history with that mark… Finished seventh at the conference meet in both the 200 free and 100 back… Had a PB time of 1:39.29 (adjusted) in the preliminary round of the 200 free… Won the 200 IM consolation final to finish ninth in 1:51.17 (adjusted), another personal-best… Had another personal-best of 49.29 (adjusted) in the 100 back prelims to rank ninth in CMU history… Scored 50 team points in his four individual events… Named as a First Team CSCAA Scholar All-American… Was named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll.

2021-22 (Freshman): Swam in nine meets, including the RMAC Championships… Scored in all four of his individual events, reaching the championship final in three… Picked up First Team All-RMAC honors after placing second in the 200 back with a NCAA “B” cut and season-best time of 1:48.08 (altitude-adjusted)… Also placed seventh in the 100 back (50.08), eighth in the 200 free (1:40.38) and tenth in the 200 IM (1:52.58), all with season-best times… Also helped the Mavs “B” team win their heat in the 800 free relay… Accounted for 47 team points in his four individual events and 51 ½ in total, when considering his share of the relay points… Had five top-3 finishes during dual meets... Named as a Second Team CSCAA Scholar All-American.

Prep: Mississippi State Champion in the 100 back and runner-up in the 200 free for the Pam Passerelli coached Ocean Springs High School Greyhounds… Helped lead the team to a South State Championship in the fall of 2020 with those efforts… Had taken second in the 100 back and third in the 200 free as a junior in 2019 after helping the Greyhounds to a third place finish in the 400 free relay in 2017… Also placed fourth in the 100 back and sixth in the 500 free at the 2018 meet.

Club: Won Mississippi Long Course Championships in the 100 free, 200 free and 800 free in 2019 while playing second in four other events... Swam for the Biloxi Elite Swim Club.... Holds numerous team records... Coached by Jamie Lee and Tanja Webber.

Personal: Is majoring in physics… Wants to do contracting work with the Navy or work in a lab doing research… Son of Mark and Maureen Koch… Has three siblings-- Joshua, Amber and Emily …Enjoys playing football with friends or any other sport we want to play that day... Also enjoys going on hikes and seeing the nature around him whie enjoying being outside.

Why I Chose CMU: “The physics program in combination with a great swim program overall made my decision to become a Maverick."
