IRVINE, Calif.— Fifteen Colorado Mesa University tennis student-athletes were named to the 2023-24 Academic All-PacWest Teams, announced Wednesday afternoon by Pacific West Conference officials.
In order to qualify, a student-athlete must have a cumulative 3.0 or higher grand point average, have completed at least two semesters at their institution and participated in regular season competition in one of the 15 PacWest sponsored sports.
The Mavericks, who had eight men's and seven women's honorees, have been affiliate members of the PacWest for the past four years in the sports of men's and women's tennis.
Notably, junior
Shawn Springer has a perfect 4.00 GPA in his one year as part of CMU's men's program record matching eight selections. Seniors
Jorge Abreu and
Brandon Keller have now earned the honor in three straight years while
Emil Hultman,
William Leschig,
Diogo Manzano and
Henry Scheck were all repeat picks.
On the women's side, senior
Julianna Campos is the first Maverick to ever earn the honor four times. Juniors
Makenna Livingston and
Audrey O'Rear have now claimed it in three straight years while
Delia Maier,
Jane Steur and
Kristen Thomas were all repeat selections after also receiving the honor as freshman in 2022-23.
