SHERIDAN, Wyo. – Kicking off their fall season, the Colorado Mesa University Men's Golf Team began action this afternoon as they completed their first round of the Travis Roy Memorial Invitational at Powder Horn Golf Club.
Hosted by South Dakota Mines, the Mavericks are one of 12 teams to compete in the tournament with them currently tied for the lead after 18 holes. Both the Mavs and CSU Pueblo hold team scores of just two over par for a 290.
Serving as the leader for Colorado Mesa in round one was Dylan Everett as the junior carded a three-under 69 to start his tournament while currently sitting in first place in the individual standings. In Everett's round he collected three birdies with one eagle while recording only one hole over-par.
Joining Everett in the top-10 was Luke Wagstaff with him shooting an even 72 on the day to compliment six birdies and an eagle on the 18th hole. Wagstaff is currently tied for eighth place.
Timmy Cavarno also had a strong start for the team shooting a one-over 73 to be tied for 12th place while totaling five birdies in his round.
Rounding out the team was Leo Lavalle with him carding a 76 to finish four-over and be tied for 26th place.
Outside of the top four, Henry Starr made his collegiate debut for the Mavs shooting a 78.
In total there are 60 men's golfers competing with seven different schools from the RMAC being present.
The Mavs continue the tournament tomorrow as they play 18 more holes with action set for a 9 A.M. shotgun start.
