COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Colorado Mesa University's
Scott Sullivan was named as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's Men's Golf Coach of the Year while three Maverick players earned All-RMAC honors, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Dylan Everett and
Leo Lavalle were the Mavs' two First Team All-RMAC selections while
Timmy Cavarno was a second team selection.
Sullivan's squad claimed the program's first conference title and advanced to their seventh straight NCAA regional while posting a 287.51 team scoring average, their second best in program history. They also won a program-best three tournaments, including the RMAC crown.
The Mavericks are also ranked 21
st nationally in the most recent (May 17) SCOREBOARD Powered by clippd NCAA Division II National Rankings and the final (May 8) Bushnell/Golfweek Division II Coaches Poll, coordinated by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
In his eight seasons, Sullivan has now guided his players to a combined 20 All-RMAC honors, including this year's trio.
Lavalle led the Mavericks with a 71.28 scoring average, the second best in program history. He had four top five finishes, including a tie for second at the RMAC Championships. The sophomore out of Queretaro, Mexico also had 18 par or better rounds, including a pair of 65's, one of which was in the opening round of the RMAC Championships.
Lavalle was also named to the NCAA Division II PING All-South Central Region team on Tuesday and was the RMAC's Freshman of the Year in 2024-25.
Everett, a junior from Highlands Ranch, Colorado, was right behind Lavalle with a 72.39 season-long scoring average. He also recorded four top ten finishes throughout the season, including a win at the Travis Roy Memorial Invitational to open the season. He also recorded a T-10 finish at the RMAC Championships and had 15 par or better rounds.
The all-conference honor is the second of his career. Everett was a Second Team All-RMAC honoree as a freshman in 2023-24.
Cavarno finished with a 72.68 scoring average, third best on the Maverick squad. The redshirt senior out of Redlands, California, also had four top ten finishes, including a season-best third place finish at the San Juan Intercollegiate that the Mavericks hosted in Montrose in September. He had three of his 17 par or better rounds in that tournament, including his season-best round of 65.
He has now earned three straight Second Team All-RMAC honors.
