GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.— Colorado Mesa University men's golfer Dylan Everett won the amateur division of 2026 Sinclair Rocky Mountain Open while leading a host of Maverick golfers, who fared well in the 54-hole, 3-day tournament played last Thursday-Saturday at Tiara Rado Golf Course.
 
Everett, who helped the Mavericks win their first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference team title at the collegiate level in the spring, finished with a final score of 10-under par 203, good for a one shot win over incoming teammate Will Alexander and Zach Shallat, who plays for the Colorado School of Mines.
 
Four other Maverick players also finished inside the top eight as sophomore Henry Starr took fourth while incoming freshman Colby Hutton and senior Baptiste Laborde tied for fifth.  Inigo Badial also finished under par and in eighth place of the 48-man amateur field.

Everett posted scores of 66, 69 and 68 on the par-71 course and came from a shot behind entering the final round after Shallat fired a blistering round of 63 in the opening round before giving two of his 3-shot advantage back to Everett during his even par round of 71 on Friday.  Shallat then finished the tournament with a 1-under par round of 70 as Everett's 68 was good enough for the win.

Meanwhile, Alexander matched Everett's round of 68 on Saturday and finished at -9 (204) for the tournament to tie for second with Shallat.  Alexander is a native of Lavardens, France and has transferred to CMU from NCAA Division I San Diego.
 
Starr, a regular in the Maverick lineup as a freshman in 2025-26, finished three shots further back at -6 (207) after shaking off an opening round of 65 while bouncing back with a 4-under par round of 67 on Friday.  He then posted the best round of the day on Saturday, carding a 6-under par round of 65 to move up the leaderboard.
 
Hutton and Laborde finished at 210 (-3) and finished at or below par in all three rounds, matching each other with scores of 71, 69 and 70.
 
Badial started with a round of 68 on Thursday and then posted Friday and Saturday scores of 72.

Everett's victory is the second straight in the tournament as 2026 CMU graduate Timmy Cavarno claimed victory heading into his redshirt season last summer.
 
CMU assistant coach and aspiring professional Cole Beyer tied for 20^th in the professional portion of the field, earning $850 of the overall $100,000 prize pool.

Former Maverick standouts Brandon Bingaman and Yael Chahin tied for 39th and made the cut and picked up $675 apiece.

Proceeds from the prestigious annual event benefit the CMU golf programs.
 
The Maverick men will begin their collegiate season at the Travis Roy Memorial Invitational on Sept. 14-15.
