Save the Date
  • CMU Athletics will host a Casino Night fundraiser on Friday, Apr. 4.  The silent auction and cocktails and conversations begin at 5 p.m. with dinner and gaming tables opening an hour later at 6 p.m.  Prizes will be awarded at 9 p.m.  Tickets can be found at: https://www.supportingcmu.org/event/2025-maverick-casino-night.html
Baseball
  • The Mavericks won their fifth straight series and finished the month of March with a 15-2 record after sweeping the Colorado School of Mines on the road in Golden last Thursday-Saturday
  • The Mavs have now won nine straight and 18 of their last 20 games to improve to 22-8 overall and 15-1 in RMAC play
  • The Mavs lead the RMAC by four games over Regis (9-3 RMAC), which was idle over the weekend
  • The Mavs outscored the Orediggers, 61-25 throughout the series and put 25 runs in the 25-3 Game 3 win on Friday.
  • Paul Schoenfeld hit .526 (10-19) with four doubles, a triple and two home runs for an OPS of 1.708 during the 4-game set at Mines.  He also scored ten runs and recorded seven RBIs and 12 putouts in the outfield.
  • Normal reserve Jack Rogers hit .600 (6-10) and had four runs and six RBIs while making two starts at designated hitter.
  • Sage Ferguson pitched 4 2/3 innings of relief to pick up the win in Game 3 of the series.  He did not allow any runs and struck out five in that win.
  • Noah Neufeld has made three start this year and has hit four home runs in those starts.
  • The Mavericks were slated to play at Division I Utah Valley on Tuesday, but that game was canceled on Monday due to inclement weather forecasts.
  • The Mavericks will continue their season this weekend hosting Adams State in a 4-game set at The Diamond.  The Grizzlies are in fourth place in the RMAC standings at 9-7 and have a 13-21 record.
  • Friday's game is set for 3 p.m.  A Saturday doubleheader is at 1 p.m. and Sunday's final game is at Noon.
Softball
  • The Mavs (25-9, 23-5 RMAC) won their fifth straight series, taking three out of four home games over fourth place CSU Pueblo over the weekend.
  • With those results and a Colorado Christian/MSU Denver series split, the Mavericks moved into second place of the RMAC standings, just a game behind Colorado Christian (24-4) and a half-game ahead of MSU Denver, which is 22-5 in RMAC play.
  • CSU Pueblo is now 19-9 in conference play and snapped a 17-game Maverick winning streak with a 3-2 win on Saturday.
  • The Mavs snapped the Pack's 10-game winning streak coming into the weekend.
  • The Mavs recorded two walk-off wins, winning Game 1 in 11 innings by a 6-5 margin on Saturday.  They then won the fourth game of the series, 5-4 on a double-error on Sunday.
  • The Mavs also won 7-1 in Game 3 of the series on Sunday.
  • Preslee Christensen made two appearances and posted a 0.84 ERA after giving up just five hits while striking out seven ThunderWolves over 8 1/3 innings in two appearances.  She also picked up the Game 3 win.
  • Jessalyn Gallegos improved to 12-1 in the circle with two wins.  She threw 18 innings and recorded 19 strikeouts in two complete game efforts, including the 11-inning affair.
  • Khloe Kubitschek hit .455 (5-11) with one home run and four RBIs to lead the CMU offense.
  • Ally Distler hit two home runs and hit .300 over the weekend while raising her career home run total to 56, good for a tie for second on CMU's career charts with program legend Brooke Hodgson.  Distler has hit 12 homers this year.
  • Myah Arrieta also added her 13th home run of the year and now has 53 career home runs, fourth most in program history.
  • The Mavs are on the road playing at Fort Lewis (8-25, 7-21 RMAC) in a 4-game weekend series in Durango on Saturday and Sunday.
  • The Mavs will then be in Lakewood on Apr. 12-13 for a key RMAC series at Colorado Christian.
Outdoor Track & Field
  • The Mavericks claimed five event wins and three NCAA Division II Championship provisional qualifying marks at the Chuck Hearing Classic in Pueblo on Friday.
  • Megan Hodges (1500m), Augustine Hancock (Hammer Throw) and Christina Palmer (Shot Put) all won events for the Maverick women as Hancock and Brooke Miller (800m) set NCAA provisional qualifying marks.
  • Garrett Searls (Pole Vault) and Antone Higgs (Long Jump) won for the CMU men as Higgs set a NCAA provisional and RMAC performance-list qualifying mark of 7.51 meters (24-7.75).
  • Searls also cleared 4.80 meters (15-8.75), more than a foot above his former outdoor career-best and moved into second on CMU's all-time performers list.
  • The Maverick had 12 new or improved marks on their all-time top-10 lists during the meet.
  • The Mavs will be at home for the only time this season hosting the Maverick Invitational on Thursday and Friday.  That meet was originally slated to be small, but has grown significantly is size after the cancelation of another CSU Pueblo meet.
Women's Lacrosse
  • The Mavericks (6-4), moved to 5-0 in RMAC play and extending their winning streak to five with two running-clock margin home wins over the weekend.
  • They scored 15 unanswered goals in a 17-2 win over CSU Pueblo on Friday night and then scored nine straight goals in Sunday's 17-6 win over Fort Lewis.
  • Caroline Ohngemach recorded eight goals and five assists (13 points) over the weekend, matching a career-high with seven points (3G, 4A) against CSU Pueblo before matching a career-high with five goals in Sunday's win over Fort Lewis.
  • Junior Justine Anderson recorded three goals over the weekend and reached the 100 goal mark for her career on Sunday.  She is just the fifth Maverick in program history to reach that milestone and has scored at least once in 15 straight games dating back to last year.  She also leads the RMAC with 18 assists.
  • Freshman goalie Heather Hawkins posted a 3.75 goals against average and made 16 saves while allowing just seven goals in two games this weekend to finish with a .696 save percentage over the weekend.
  • Courtney Havel also recorded two more hat tricks over the weekend and leads the RMAC with 37 goals this year.  She has recorded hat tricks in five straight games.
  • Undefeated in the first half of the RMAC schedule, the Mavs will begin the second round-robin with a road game at Westminster (5-5, 2-3 RMAC) on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Salt Lake City.
Men's Lacrosse
  • The Mavericks improved to 6-2 overall and to 3-0 in Peach Belt Conference Rocky Mountain Division play as they held on for a key 8-7 win over Concordia University Irvine in their home-opener on Friday afternoon.
  • Sophomore goaltender Shaden Shields made 13 saves in the win.
  • CMU took a 5-1 lead and led 6-2 at the half before the Golden Eagles fought back to within 7-6 before Eli Bibler scored what proved to be the game-winner putting CMU up 8-6 with 6:51 remaining.
  • Connor Jensen, Dillon Pless and Logan Smith all scored two goals to lead the Mavericks.
  • Caden Hathaway also recorded five groundballs and three caused turnovers to lead the stout Maverick defense.
  • The Mavs are now 5-0 all-time against the Golden Eagles, who are now 4-2 in conference play and tied for second in the standings with 2-1 Westminster.
  • CMU is ranked 20th in the national poll released on Monday and will play two conference games this week, hosting Adams State (0-4, 0-4 PBC/RMD) on Thursday at 5 p.m. before heading to Salt Lake City for a key Sunday afternoon contest at arch-rival Westminster (4-4, 2-1 PBC/RMD) at 1 p.m.
Beach Volleyball
  • The Mavericks went a perfect 4-0 and improved their winning streak to five as they were victorious in all of their matches in Friday & Saturday tri-duals against Trinidad State and Emmanuel (Ga.) at home.
  • The Mavs defeated Trinidad State 5-0 in both duals and did not drop a set in either dual.
  • The Mavs defeated Emmaneul, 4-1 in both duals and swept the No. 2-5 and exhibition matches while only losing at No. 1 in both 3-set match-ups.
  • CMU honored seven seniors between Saturday's matches.
  • CMU is now 16-7 overall as a team this season.
  • The Mavericks went 6-0 on home sand this year and are now 25-0 all-time at home in the program's 10-year history.
  • The No. 2 and 3 pairs of Riley Daugherty/Lizzy Hood and Barett Nolan/Ania Swartzendruber co-lead the team with 17-6 records.
  • The Mavericks are slated to play an intrasquad scrimmage on Friday but will otherwise have the week off from competition.
  • They will then head to Boise State's Tournament on Apr. 11-12 for what will be their final tune-up for the AVCA Small College Beach Championships on the weekend following (Apr. 17-19) in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
Men's Tennis
  • The Maverick men, currently ranked 33rd in the ITA's Division II rankings were off last weekend but will play arguably their most important match of the season this Friday when they host in-state Pacific West Conference rival MSU Denver at 2:30 p.m. on the Elliott Tennis Center Courts.
  • The Mavs will also take on NCAA Division III Colorado College on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
  • The Mavs will hold Senior Day festivities prior to that match at 12:15 p.m.
  • CMU is 10-9 overall and has reached the 10-win mark for the first time since 2017.  They are 4-4 against PacWest foes.
  • They were ranked ninth in the initial PacWest rankings and just outside of the top 8 that that will need to be in after the weekend to earn a tournament spot for the first time since 2021.
  • New rankings will be published on Wednesday of this week before the official selections will be made next Monday.
  • MSU Denver is 9-10 overall and 5-3 against PacWest foes.
  • Colorado College is 3-10 overall
Women's Tennis
  • The Maverick women will play their only three home matches of the entire season this weekend at the Elliott Tennis Center, hosting MSU Denver in a PacWest match-up on Friday at 2:30 p.m.
  • They will then host CSU Pueblo and Colorado College at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., respectively, on Saturday.
  • CMU will recognize their seniors prior to the Colorado College match at 12:15 p.m.
  • CMU's women are 11-9 as a season and went 5-2 against PacWest foes during their Spring Break trip to California.
  • This Friday's and next Friday's return trip to MSU Denver are the final two conference affairs of the season for the Mavs, who play their final six regular season matches of the season in Colorado after playing in Idaho, Nebraska, Arizona, Utah and California earlier this spring.
  • Senior Makenna Livingston is ranked 37th in the ITA's most recent NCAA Division II singles rankings and has 94 career wins with a chance of reaching 100 this weekend if she were to go 6-0.
  • CMU was ranked eighth in the initial set of PacWest rankings while MSU Denver (10-10) is ranked ninth.  New rankings will be out Wednesday before next week's tournament selection announcement that will include 12 teams.
Men's Golf
  • The Mavs took second behind No. 1 ranked and defending national champion Colorado Christian in a field of 14 teams at last Sunday-Tuesday's The Stack Cougar-Burro Classic in Arizona.
  • Cole Beyer tied for the individual win in the 3-day, 54-hole tournament at 205 (-11) but lost on the first hole of playoff after carding a 7-under par 65 in the final round on Tuesday.
  • The Mavericks posted a team score of 16-under par 272 in the final round, setting a new program-record for the best score in relation to par.
  • The 272 was also the second best raw score in program history as four Maverick men all finished under par, led by Beyer's 65.  Luke Wagstaff (68), Timmy Cavarno (69) and Dylan Everett (70) also broke par during the round.
  • The Mavericks are 25th in the latest SCOREBOARD national rankings and were tabbed fourth in the official NCAA Division II South Central Regional Rankings with ten teams from the region to ultimately qualify for the NCAA Super Regional.
  • Cole Beyer is ranked sixth as an individual in the SCOREBOARD national rankings.
  • The Mavericks will resume their season at the RJGA Palm Valley Classic in Goodyear, Arizona next Monday and Tuesday (Apr. 7-8)
