LAKEWOOD, Colo.— Baptiste Laborde and
Noah Richmond posted the best rounds of the day and joined
Zack Moreau in the top ten of the final standings at the Bob Writz Invitational, which wrapped up Monday here at the Bear Creek Golf Club.
The trio of Mavericks were from the contingent of six Colorado Mesa University players in the 36-hole tournament that was played over the past two days on the par-72 course. All six have been outside of the Mavs' 5-man starting lineup in the team's first three tournaments.
No team scores were kept for the event hosted by the Colorado School of Mines.
Moreau, who recorded the best round of his career on Monday, finished in a tie for sixth place in the 35-man field with a final score of 147 (+3). He finished with a 76 (+4) in Monday's round.
Laborde and Richmond were part of a 5-way tie for ninth at 151 (+7). Laborde finished Monday's round with a 73 (+1) and made six birdies throughout the day. Richmond fired a 74 (+2) on Monday, recording 16 pars and two bogeys.
Freshman
Jacob Gonzalez led the other three Mavericks in the field, tying for 17
th at 154 (+10) after posting a 78 (+6) in Monday's round. Fellow freshman
Ky Korte placed 27
th at 159 (+15) and had a round of 79 (+7) on Monday.
Inigo Badial tied for 30
th at 164 (+20) and also shot a 79 in the second round.
Only one player in the field finished Monday's round under par while two broke par for the event. Colorado's Michael Fang held on to a 1-shot win at 140 (-4) after recording a 6-under par 66 on Sunday and a 74 (+2) on Monday.
The Mavericks main squad will be back in action at next week's Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational in Amarillo, Texas to wrap up the fall season.
