Olivia Hansson set her third NCAA Division II Championship provisional qualifying time of the weekend to highlight the Colorado Mesa University Maverick Swimming & Diving team's efforts on Saturday at the Intermountain Shootout here at the El Pomar Natatorium.
The Mavericks also recorded seven total top-3 finishes and 23 top-5 tallies throughout the day, which saw the Maverick women go 1-2 in the quadrangular format while extending their 9-year Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference dual-meet winning streak to 36 with a dominant 174-26 win over CSU Pueblo.
The Maverick women, who had 14 of the top five finishes, did fall to NCAA Division I and Big 12 Conference foes BYU (174 ½-59 ½) and Utah (133-69) in Saturday's multi-team dual.
CMU's men had nine top five finishes, including Ayres' victory and a second place finish in the 200 medley relay, but were downed by BYU, 148-57, and Utah, 108-91. The margin against Utah was the closest in 15 all-time tries against the Utes.
Ayres, a returning all-American in both medley relays, won the 50 breast in 25.72 seconds while Cal transfer and fifth-year senior
Forrest Frazier touched in 25.90 seconds to take second as the Mavericks men put five in the top nine of that rarely contested event. Ayres also teamed with

Emma Lence, who finished fourth with 385.20 points, and
Kenya Meyer, who took fifth with 381.90, were not far off that standard.
Campbell, a transfer from Monroe (N.Y.) Community College, where he won a NJCAA national championship, took fourth in the men's 3-meter diving event with 476.25 points while
David Roethlisberger (447.45) was not far off the national qualifying standard of 460.00 points while taking fifth place on Saturday.
Elsewhere, Hansson took fourth in the 500 free with a time of 5:06.99 (5:01.99-converted)
to follow-up her 200 Fly and 1000 Free NCAA "B" cut times from Friday night.

Tori Bartusiak (26.55) and
Amber Siverts (26.56), who were fourth and fifth, respectively. Borchardt also took third in the 100 Fly with a time of 57.67 seconds after swimming the butterfly leg on the Mavs' third place 200 medley relay team that also included
