GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.— Alexandra Schipai was named as the West All-Region Division II Freshman and led three Colorado Mesa University triathletes named to the All-West Region team, officially announced by the Collegiate Triathlon Coaches Association on Tuesday following Sunday's regional championship race in Fort Worth, Texas.
Schipai,
Shantelle Tupaz and
Nadine Klive were the Mavs' all-region picks after each finished amongst the top seven Division II athletes in Sunday's race while leading the Mavericks to a second place team finish.
The top seven finishers from each division at each of the two regional championship races over the weekend make up the CTCA's All-Region honorees.
The top true freshman finisher in each division at each regional earns the all-region freshman accolades.
Schipai, who hails from Tallinn, Estonia, is the sixth Maverick to ever earn the freshman honor, which came after she finished third amongst Division II triathletes on Sunday with a time of one hour, nine minutes, 10.32 seconds. She was the top freshman from the division.
Tupaz, last year's freshman award winner, is now a 2-time all-region pick after finishing fifth amongst Division II athletes. The Pleasanton, California native clocked a time of 1:10:04.29.
Klive took seventh and also earned all-region honors for the second time in her career after picking up her first as a sophomore in 2023. The senior from Harsefeld, Germany finished Sunday's race in 1:10:45.50.
The Mavericks have now had 22 all-region honorees since starting their program in 2017.
The squad is now preparing for the Women's Collegiate Triathlon National Championships on Nov. 8 in Tempe, Arizona.
