Box Score COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Sophomore Emil Hultman and freshman Axel Scholl both went undefeated in singles play while Hultman also won his lone doubles match with partner Jorge Abreu to lead the Colorado Mesa University men's tennis team in the Colorado College Invitational held over the weekend at Memorial Park.
 
The tournament, was unable to be completed due to rain on Sunday afternoon, but still allowed the Mavericks to play competitive individual matches before they open the team portion of the season on Friday against Lubbock Christian University and Pratt Community College during the Pueblo Duals.
 
Hultman won both of his singles matches in straight sets after receiving a Round of 16 bye and reached the final of the "B" Singles Draw.  That final was of the numerous matches not to be played due to the rain.
 
He and Abreu also had a bye in the round of 16 of the "B" doubles draw before advancing to the semifinals with a 7-5 win over Jimmy Andrews and Jack Delafield of the host Tiger squad.
 
Meanwhile, Scholl made his Maverick debut and won the "C" singles draw without dropping a set in his three singles matches.
 
Elsewhere, Henry Scheck went 1-1 and reached the "B" singles semifinals after receiving an opening round bye while Diogo Manzano won a consolation match in the "A" singles draw.  William Leschig also had a battle in that draw, dropping a 18-16 decision in the third-set tie-breaker to Air Force's Tyler Leaird.
 
In doubles, Leschig and Scheck advanced to the un-played finals of the "A" bracket defeating Manzano and Philemon Jabin in an all-Maverick semifinal match.  Shawn Springer and Scholl also won their first "B" doubles match.
