FRESNO, Calif.— Program newcomers Manu Ferreira and Eva Muraske both reached the Round of 16 of the main draws with morning victories while Colorado Mesa University senior Devyn Rodriguez rattled off five consecutive wins to take the consolation women's singles bracket while surpassing a pair of milestones on a solid day of action for the Mavericks at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association West Regional Championships on Friday.

Ferreira got past tournament host Fresno Pacific's Tim Bangert by a 7-5, 1-6, 1-0 (10-5 scoreline) in his round of 32 match but was downed by Menlo's Raphael Moysan, 7-6 (11-9), 6-0 in the Round of 16.

Meanwhile, Josema Fas dropped a 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-5) decision to No. 12 seed Marcos Alogo-Piqueras of Point Loma Nazarene in the Round of 32 after winning his opening match on Thursday.

In the women's main draw, Muraske beat 11^th-seeded Halle Faherty by a 6-4, 6-4 margin in the Round of 32 before dropping a tight 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 decision to No. 2 seed Yume Ueoku of the host Sunbird squad.

Valentina Gonzalez was also in main draw action on Friday, but fell to Yeo Kyung Kim of Biola, 6-2, 7-5 in the Round of 32.

Rodriguez, who entered the tournament with 49 career singles wins and 95 career overall wins surpassed a pair of milestones during her run through the consolation bracket.

Her first consolation singles win over Stanislaus State's Lisa Lieberman was the 50^th singles victory of her career.  Her fourth over a Point Loma opponent was her 100^th career victory.  She now has 101 total wins, including 54 singles wins in her 4-year CMU career.

The Mavericks have now wrapped up the tournament and the fall portion of the season.

"From my perspective, it was a pretty solid fall and ITA," veteran Maverick Coach Dan MacDonald said. 

"Both teams are young but good and I'm proud of the effort these young men and women gave for CMU," he added.
