ALAMOSA, Colo.— The Colorado Mesa University Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving teams combined to set numerous pool records in convincing Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference dual victories over host Adams State University on Friday afternoon at the Plachy Hall Pool.
The nation's tenth-ranked Maverick women won 137-53 to complete a 2-0 road trip and extend their RMAC dual winning streak to 18 while the No. 11 CMU men claimed their first win of the season, 144-29.
The Mavericks posted the fastest time in all 22 events but exhibitioned all of their competitors in the last six.
The Maverick men set pool records in both the 200-yard medley and free relays to book-end the afternoon. They also had record-setting efforts from
Torsten Rau in the 1000 free and
Matthew Barrett in the 100 breaststroke while taking each of the top five individual places in each of the first seven individual events.
In the medley relay,
Lane Austin,
Mahmoud Elgayar,
Zander Minano and
Noah Vallee combined for a time of 1:34.54.
Rau then won the 1,000 free in 9:52.75.

Freshman
Alex Bruce won the 100 back in 52.91 seconds before Ellis touched first in the 500 free with a time of 5:00.91, the first event that CMU decided to exhibition to prevent an even more lopsided team score. He won that race by nearly 15 seconds.
Barrett then went the quickest in the 100 breast as the Mavs had the top four swimmers in the pool if not on paper. Finally, Minano, Austin,
Felipe D'Orsi and Elgayar combined for a time of 1:26.77 in the 200 free relay, more than 16 seconds faster than the Grizzlies' lone quartet, which was the official winner.
The Maverick women also broke pool records in three individual events with freshman
Lauren White taking the 200 free in 1:56.97. Later,
Grace Payton won the 200 IM in 2:14.50 before

The exhibition team of

Logan Anderson,
Bret Congdon and
Natalie Saul then posted a time of 1:41.01 in the 200 free to cap the day.
CMU's "C" 200 medley relay team started the day with a win as the "A" and "B" teams were both disqualified.
Sophomore transfer
Abbey Selin then won the 1000 free in 11:11.32 before White's win in the 200 free.
Saul then won the 50 free in 25.20 seconds before Payton's record-setting time.
