As a Redshirt Sophomore (2021-22): Competed in the Intermountain Shootout posting altitude-adjusted times of 50.80 (100 Back), 1:54.71 (200 Back), 53.26 (100 Fly) and 2:01.01 (200 Fly).

As a Sophomore (2020-21): Competed in four individual events at the RMAC Championships in his only competitive action of the pandemic-abbreviated season… Scored in three of them… Earned Second Team All-RMAC honors in the 200 back after placing fourth in 1:52.10… Posted a time of 1:51.12 in the prelims… Finished fifth in the 200 fly (1:53.44) after posting a time of 1:52.51 in the prelims… Finished 11^th in the 100 fly with a personal-best time of 50.39 (50.29-altitude adjusted)… Was 23^rd in the 100 back in 59.76 seconds.

As a Freshman (2019-20): Competed in six meets… Set a NCAA “B” cut altitude-adjusted time of 1:48.93 in the 200 back at the A3 Performance Invitational… Ranks seventh in program history with that time… Also ranks sixth in the 100 back after posting a mark of 50.17 at the same meet as the lead-off on the Mavs’ 400 medley relay team… Had other personal-bests of 21.48 (50 free), 50.96 (100 fly) and 1:51.06 (200 fly)… The 200 fly time ranks him ninth in program history… Won the 100 back in the Adams State dual on Oct. 25.

Prep: Graduated from Cherry Creek HS in 2018... Swam for the Bruins and coach Chris Loftis... Placed fifth in the 100 back at the 2017 5A State Championships while earning the Automatic All-American standard in that event... Also earned the same standard on the Bruins' 200 medley and 400 free relay teams, which placed third and fourth, respectively.

Club: Swam for the University of Denver Hilltoppers and Coach Shawn Smith... Was a member of the club record setting 200 medley relay team... Was a Winter Junior National Qualifer... Helped the squad win three sectional titles... The club is a nationally-recognized year-round swim team with multiple years of being a silver medal club.... Helped the T-Shirt Relay world record.

Personal: Is majoring in business finance... Son of Joseph Bruce and Holley Chen... Has a younger brother-- Andrew...  Enjoys being outdoors, watching sunrises and sunsets, hanging out with friends, watching movies and making fried rice (Ching Ling) and visiting the homeland.
