Mavs set for three matches in Hawai'i

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.— The Colorado Mesa University women's tennis team will continue their season, spending their Easter Weekend on the Hawaiian island of O'ahu.

The Mavericks, 10-12 on the season, will begin the stretch on Saturday night taking on the nation's 27th-ranked Hawai'i Pacific University Sharks.  The Mavs will then play Hawai'i Hilo in a neutral-site match on Saturday before wrapping up the trip with another neutral-site encounter against Point Loma Nazarene on Monday.

Last Times Out

The Mavericks split two matches last weekend in Colorado Springs, defeating the University of the Ozarks from Arkansas by a 7-0 score last Friday (Mar. 27) before dropping a 4-3 heart-breaker to Colorado College last Saturday (Mar. 28).

Island First

The Mavericks trip to Hawai'i will be their first such trip in program history.

It will also be the seventh state that the Mavs have played in this spring and the eighth this year.  The Mavs will add another state to that list (Utah) next week.

Hometown Match-up

Although she will be playing on a different island, Maverick senior Jade Brilhante will be playing against her hometown college Hawai'i Hilo on Sunday.  CMU has been Brilhante's college home for the past two years after spending time at Utah State and Northern Arizona previously.

Brilhante enters the trip home riding a 4-match winning streak in singles and has won five of her last No. 3 encounters.
