COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— The Colorado Mesa University women's tennis team made quick work of their Friday afternoon dual and picked up their tenth victory of the season, throttling the University of the Ozarks Eagles, 7-0 here at Life Time Fitness.
The Mavericks dropped just five total games throughout the entire dual and improved to 10-11 on the season.
The Eagles, an NCAA Division III outfit out of Clarksville, Arkansas, fell to 2-11.
In singles,
Devyn Rodriguez,
Delia Maier,
Catalina Ballon and
Jane Steur all registered 6-0, 6-0 wins over their Eagle opponents.
Jade Brilhante was nearly as dominant in her 6-1, 6-0 win over Madison Hamilton at No. 3 singles.
Meanwhile,
Valentina Gonzalez won by a 6-2, 6-0 margin over Brooke Humphrey at No. 2 singles.
Taylor Nokes also won an exhibition set, 6-0.
The Mavericks had earlier swept the doubles matches as Gonzalez and
Sophie Hartman blanked Emerson Corbin and Baylee Parnell, 6-0 in the third flight.
Rodriguez and Brilhante were also 6-1 winners over Kelsey Smith and Humphrey in the top flight while Maier and Ballon also won 6-1 at No. 2 over Erika Jones and Hamilton.
Maier's two victories on the day were the 98
th and 99
th of her career.
She will go for No. 100 on Saturday when the Mavs will take on the Colorado College Tigers at 1 p.m.
CC, ranked 25
th in the ITA's NCAA Division III rankings, was playing the Eagles in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match on Friday.
