Eight Mavs earn CSC Academic All-District® accolades

Three advance to national Academic All-America® ballot

AUSTIN, Texas— Eight Colorado Mesa University men's & women's tennis student-athletes were named to the 2025-26 NCAA Division II Academic All-District® teams as selected by College Sports Communicators, the organization announced on Tuesday morning.
 
The Mavericks' four men's honorees were Luke Burriesci, Emil Hultman, William Leschig and Henry Scheck.  The Mavs' women's honorees were Catalina Ballon, Jade Brilhante, Delia Maier and Devyn Rodriguez.
 
Additionally, Leschig, Maier and Rodriguez were selected to the be on the national ballot for Academic All-America® honors, which will be announced on June 2 (women) and June 3 (men).
 
To qualify for the CSC Academic All-District® awards, student-athletes must be a sophomore or above, both academically and athletically, have a 3.50 or higher GPA and have been in the team lineup for at least 75 percent of their team's matches.  Additionally, institutions were limited to four men's and four women's nominations.
 
Burriesci, a sophomore finance major from Boise, Idaho, holds a 3.65 GPA.  He won 15 combined matches this season and was named to the Academic All-Pacific West Conference team in 2025 while also earning the iTA Scholar-Athlete Award.
 
Hultman, a senior from Värnamo, Sweden, has a 3.87 GPA and is majoring in business analytics.  This is his third straight selection to the Academic All-District® team.  He led the Mavericks in singles wins this season, compiling a 19-11 overall record, including a 11-9 record at No. 3 in duals.
 
Leschig, a senior from Buckholz, Lower Saxony, Germany, leads the Maverick men with his 3.94 GPA.  The business administration major also paced the Mavericks with 33 total wins this season, racking up a winning 16-14 record in singles and a 17-10 doubles record alongside Scheck.  Like Hultman, he has now earned CSC Academic All-District® honors in three straight seasons.
 
Scheck is also a 3-time honoree and holds a 3.80 GPA.  The business management major out of Camarillo, California played in the No. 1 spot of the Mavs' singles and doubles lineup.  He recorded a 12-16 overall record in singles, including an 9-11 dual meet mark.  He and Leschig finished the regular season ranked 21s in the nation for doubles.
 
Ballon is a sophomore from Santiago, Chile.  She holds a 3.77 GPA and is majoring in finance.  She recorded a 16-15 singles record and co-led the Maverick women for doubles wins with 21.  Their victory total was the largest for any Maverick doubles duo in 14 years.
 
Brilhante, a senior from Hilo, Hawai'i, holds a 3.64 GPA and is majoring in exercise science.  She led the Mavs with her 17-15 singles record and played with Rodriguez in the No. 1 spot of the Maverick doubles lineup, going 13-13, including a 12-11 record in duals.
 
Maier hails from Hechingen, Germany and is majoring in biochemistry.  She has a team-best 3.94 GPA and wrapped up her career with 105 career victories and one of just 15 Maverick women to ever surpass the century mark.  She went 15-14 in singles and put up the stellar year at no. 2 doubles with Ballon.  This is her third straight CSC Academic All-District® honor.
 
Rodriguez, a junior from Chandler, Arizona, is majoring in sport management and has a 3.84 GPA.  She went 16-16 in singles play and was in the No. 1 spot of the lineup in both singles and doubles.  She was also named to the CSC Academic All-District® team in 2025, her first year of eligibility for the honor.
