PUEBLO, Colo.- After making the almost 5 and a half hour drive, the Colorado Mesa University women's tennis team saw positive results at the Colorado College Invite. 

The Mavericks placed Valentina Gonzalez, Devyn Rodriguez and Eva Muraske in the A Flight for singles and Catalina Ballon, Sophie Hartman, Ruby Robbins, Taylor Nokes and Luciana Del Carlo placed in the B Flight 

Gonzalez would have a tall task ahead of her as she faced off against the number one seed Aspen Young of Colorado College. Gonzalez pushed her to a third set but ultimately fell short in the tiebreaker. She won her next match in the back draw against Eva Guta of Western New Mexico 6-3-6-4 and will face off against her teammate Muraske, who had a very interesting route to the backdraw final. Muraske played the number two seed Kala Komanduri and pushed her to brink, losing in a nail-biting third set. Muraske only played three games in her next match as her opponent withdrew due to an injury. Rodriguez was the fourth seed entering play and breezed past Josefina Bailetti of Western New Mexico 6-1, 6-2 but came up short against Komanduri in a third set. She is set to play in the third-place match tomorrow morning. 

In the B Flight, Hartman had an impressive showing as she won both her matches against Lina Mueller of Western New Mexico 6-1, 6-2 and Simon Thomas of Colorado College to advance to the semifinals. Meeting her there and at the other end of the draw is Del Carlo, who received a bye as the two seed and beat her teammate Nokes 6-3, 6-0 to advance. Nokes won her first round match against Sophie Reuter 2-6, 6-3, 10-7 before losing to Del Carlo. Despite losing her first round match, Robbins was able to bounce back in the backdraw as she beat Catherine Ndeko of Western New Mexico 5-7, 6-2, 10-7 to book her ticket to the consolation finals. 

As for doubles, three of the four Mavs doubles teams advanced to the semifinals. The duo of Hartman and Del Carlo beat Ally Lowe and Natalie Anaya of Colorado College 7-6 in a highly contested match. Rodriguez and Gonzalez advanced by beating Ndeko and Mueller 6-2. 

Overall, the team made 16-5 on the day and will look at add to those results tomorrow. Play will begin at 9 a.m.
