PUEBLO, Colo.- After a long day of competing, the Colorado Mesa men's tennis team saw three singles player and one doubles team advance to the quarterfinals at the Colorado College Invite. 

The Maverick tandem of Josema Fas, Diego Foncillas and Manu Ferreira were slated to play in the A flight for singles while Daniel Blanch, Andrew Lock, Gavin Hutter and Luke Burriesci played in the B flight. 

Fas was the one seed going into the tournament and he fared well in his first match against Sebastien Moulle-Berteaux of Colorado College beating him 6-4, 6-4. He faced off against his teammate in Ferreira, who had to come back from a set down to win his first match 1-6, 7-6, 10-7. The two played an absolutle barnburner with Pons coming out on top 6-7, 7-6, 10-7 to book his spot in the A flight final. He'll face against another one of his teammates in Foncillas, who won his two matches comfortably beating Alavro Fernandez-Caceres of Western New Mexico 6-0, 6-3 and Benjamin Vriends 6-2, 6-4. 

In the B Flight, Hutter fared well as he advanced to the quarters after beating Ross Cockrell of Colorado College 6-2, 6-1 and the number one seed David Guta from Western New Mexico 3-6, 6-0, 10-8. Blanch won his first round 6-3, 6-4 against Nico Lackner of Western New Mexico but lost his next one in a close third set breaker. Burriesci lost his first round match but recieved a bye in the backdraw. 

Doubles saw even more good results as Fas/Ferreira teamed up and made it to the semis. They received a bye in the first round and beat Moulle-Berteaux/Logan Milton of Colorado College 6-4. Burriesci and Lock won their first match 7-5 over Cockrell and Mateo Gil of Colorado College before bowing out to the two seeds. Hutter and Blach lost their first round but will have shot to win in the backdraw. 

The Mavs overall went 13-8 on the day and will look to continue getting good results tomorrow with play starting at 9 a.m.
