COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— After a strong second place finish in a field of 80, Colorado Mesa University freshman
Henry Starr was named as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's Men's Golfer of the Week, the conference announced on Thursday.
Starr posted rounds of 68, 69 and 70 at the Coyote Classic in Beaumont, California to record a 54-hole total of 207, his best of the season. He finished nine shots under par at the par-72, Oak Valley Golf Club which played at 7,003 yards.
Starr's opening round of 4-under par 68 also matched his season-best and propelled him to a second top ten finish of the season. He recorded 13 birdies and a pair of eagles during the tournament.
The Englewood, Colorado native is the fourth different Maverick to have received the RMAC Golfer of the Week a combined five times this year.
Dylan Everett picked up the previous honor on Mar. 10 and was also recognized during the fall portion of the campaign on Sept. 18 before
Timmy Cavarno (Sept. 25) and
Leo Lavalle (Oct. 16) were honored later in the fall.
