COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— After helping the Mavericks to win their second consecutive tournament, Colorado Mesa University redshirt senior

The Redlands, California native finished third overall in a field of 62 players at Monday and Tuesday's San Juan Intercollegiate presented by Timberline Bank with a 54-hole score of 204, which was nine shots under par. Cavarno was under par in all three rounds, carding scores of 70, 65 and 69 in his laps around the Bridges Golf & Country Club in Montrose, which played as a par-71 and at 7,017 yards. He made 17 birdies throughout the tournament, recording six during his bogey free second round, which began on Monday and concluded on Tuesday morning after a weather-related suspension.
In the process, he led the Mavs to a 14-under par team score of 270 in that round, CMU's second best round in program history. The Mavs also had a 13-under par score of 271, the third best in program history, in Monday's first round, before hanging on to the tournament win with a 287 (+3) in the final round.
The Mavericks, ranked 19
