GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.— After winning their seventh straight Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference titles last weekend, the Colorado Mesa University swimming & diving teams will look to add a few named to their NCAA Division II Championship qualification list when the Mavs host the CMU Last Chance Meet on Saturday morning in the El Pomar Natatorium.
Twenty-six Maverick swimmers and 13 divers are entered in the small meet, which will begin at 9 a.m. with diving competition in the women's 1-meter and men's 3-meter disciplines.
A swimming preliminary session that is slated to include 19 races will then get underway at 10 a.m. Diving will then resume following the swimming slate at approximately 11:30 a.m. with the men competing on the 1-meter while the women contest the 3-meter.
Swimmers that wish to try to better their times will then get another opportunity in the finals following the second wave of diving.
Time trial opportunities will also be on offer at the end of the meet for any athletes if desired and needed.
Six Colorado School of Mines swimmers are also slated to compete. Western Colorado University will also be represented with a swimmer in the women's 1,650 free and by a 3-meter diver.

Five of the seven CMU women's divers that are slated to dive on Saturday have already secured eligibility to compete in the NCAA Division II Pre-Championship Qualification meet, held on the morning of Tuesday, Mar. 11 in Indianapolis. The official championship meet then begins later that evening.
Meanwhile,
Juli Holt and
Tori Nguyen will be looking to join the group and will need to surpass the qualification standard of 255 (1m) or 265 points (3m) over six dives.
Five Maverick men have also already qualified while
Aiden Coon will be looking to join the group on Saturday and will need to score 285 or more points on the 1-meter or 295 or more on the 3-meter.
Meanwhile, 17 of the Maverick swimmers slated to compete in the meet have already posted a NCAA Division II "B" cut mark earlier in the season but will be looking to lower their times to increase their chances of receiving an invitation to the national championships.
Saturday's meet will also mark the final home races or dives for seven Maverick seniors. That list includes
Sophia Bains,
Kate Leary,
Jason McMechan, Nguyen,
Austin Patterson,
Lucas Viana and
John Walgast.
Bains swept the RMAC titles in the 200 and 400-yard individual medley last weekend and is already guaranteed of selection to the NCAA Championship but has entered the 400 IM on Saturday to try to help teammate
Haven Hinkle to secure a trip.
