Karsen Breeding combined for 32 kills and all hit .500 or higher as the Colorado Mesa University volleyball team clinched a spot in next week's Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament with a dominant 25-10, 25-10, 25-12 straight set road win over Black Hills State University on Friday night here in the Yellow Jackets' Donald E. Young Center.
The Mavericks recorded a 42-17 kill advantage and hit a season-best .460 as a team in what was their third straight win. They committed just two attacking errors in the entire match.
That team hitting percentage is the Mavs' fourth highest single-match effort in the rally-scoring era (2001-Present).
The Mavs now 15-9 overall and 9-4 in RMAC play and needed just one hour and 11 minutes to claim the sweep.
BHSU fell to 6-19 overall and to 2-11 in the conference and hit a negative .033 as a team.
Luce, who got the start on the right side, finished with a match-high 12 kills and hit .500 while Scoville, the reigning RMAC Offensive Player of the Week, tallied 11 kills and 10 digs to register her ninth double-double of the campaign. The senior outside hitter also hit .550 without an error on 20 attempts and added three blocks and a pair of aces.
Breeding also hit .500 and recorded nine kills from the other outside hitter position.

Allison Waller led the Maverick back row with 19 digs while middle
Aesha Alrashed registered five block assists as the Mavs finished with a 9-1 blocking advantage.
The Mavs also had 11 service aces as setter
Ashlyn Tafoya recorded four of them while doling out 22 assists. Fellow setter
Addie Swanson also had ten assists. Waller also had seven.
BHSU's Randie Wellhoefer finished with seven kills.
The Mavs were error-free in both the first and third sets, hitting .500 in each. They hit .394 in the second.
The Mavs were dominant from the start jumping out to a 13-2 lead in the first set and built a 12-5 lead in the second as well.
The Mavs and Yellow Jackets were tied at 7 early in the third before Scoville served five straight points during what ended up being a 14-2 Maverick spurt.
The Mavs are now 14-1 all-time against the Yellow Jackets and have won nine straight matches in the rivalry.
The Mavs will close out the regular season on Saturday in Rapid City, South Dakota, facing South Dakota Mines at 4 p.m.
