WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The Colorado Mesa men's golf team completed the final round of the Midwestern State Invitational on Tuesday (Mar. 26) afternoon at Wichita Falls Country Club.
Colorado Mesa shot a 17-over, 301 in their final round and fell three places on the team leaderboard, settling for a fourth-place finish with a three-round score of 886. They were able to stave off a run by host Midwestern State (887), Arkansas-Fort Smith (891) and West Texas A&M (892).
Dallas Baptist (DBU) won the individual team title with a three-round total of 887 and moved up three spots in Tuesday's final round.
Dylan Everett had the best day of any Maverick finishing with a 1-over, 72 and finished in a tie for 13
th on the individual leaderboard. Everett carded four birdies, three bogeys and a double in the round but managed to play the back-nine to an even-par, 36.
Timmy Cavarno had the highest finish of any Maverick on the tournament as he finished in a tie for 10
th place on the leaderboard. Cavarno started out the round on hole No. 1 and played to a 5-over, 76 in the round. He had five bogeys, two birdies, and a double on the day.
Pablo Diaz (4-over, 75) and
Cole Beyer (7-over, 78) rounded out the Maverick scorers on the day.
Odessa College's Adam Bresnu won the individual medalist honor after winning on the third playoff hole over Wyatt Provence of West Texas A&M. Both finished the tournament with 2-under, 211s.
Colorado Mesa will be back in action on Friday April 5 as they play the Hot Dirt Shootout in Arizona, hosted by Colorado School of Mines.
