GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.— Ally Hrncir set a school-record as she and fellow Colorado Mesa University divers
Mimi Licht and
Dawson Wilson all secured a trip to the NCAA Division II Pre-Championship Qualification Meet on Mar. 12 in Geneva, Ohio with strong performances at the CMU Last Chance Meet on Saturday at the El Pomar Natatorium.
Hrncir, a freshman, scored 302.00 points over six dives off the 3-meter board and surpassed the NCAA qualification standards on both boards during the competition. Her 3-meter total bettered Kelsey Vreeman's former 6-dive record of 300.10 points that had been set in 2017.
The Alaskan also scored 300.65 points on the 1-meter board, which had given her a second qualification score from a second different meet, thus booking her trip to Ohio.
Licht, a sophomore from New Fairfield, Connecticut, also earned her first national trip, scoring 292.10 points on the 1-meter before tallying 273.95 on the 3-meter, easily going over the qualifying standards of 255 and 265 points, respectively. Hrncir and Licht will now join Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Champions
Jenna Hurley and
Kenya Meyer on the national team.
Hurley also set a new 6-dive Maverick record on the 1-meter board, scoring 310.25 points. She and Hrncir (300.65) surpassed Meyer's Feb. 18, 2023 last chance meet score of 297.85 points. Meyer scored 296.50 points on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Wilson won the men's 1-meter competition with 336.55 points after tallying 336.95 points on the 3-meter and will join
Isaiah Cheeks,
Jax Juarros and
David Roethlisberger at the national qualifier. Wilson, a sophomore from Dickinson, North Dakota, was a CSCAA All-American in both diving events and the RMAC Men's Swimming & Diving Freshman of the Year last year.
The Maverick swimmers were also represented in 20 of the day's 21 events in search of new or improved times to move up or on to the national qualification lists.
