GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.— The Colorado Mesa University women's golf team will play host to their only home tournament of the season on Saturday and Sunday in what will be their final tune-up for the upcoming Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships.
The Mavericks will host Adams State, Chadron State and Westminster in the Maverick Challenge which will be played at The Golf Club and Redlands Mesa.
Shotgun starts are slated for 8 a.m. each day.

Format
This weekend's tournament will be contested in a play six, score four format where teams will be permitted play six players, all of whom will be eligible to score for the team. The best four scores in each round will then count towards the team score.
This same format will also be used for the first time at the upcoming RMAC Championships and is different from the traditional play, five score format.

Long Layoff
The Mavericks last played in a tournament nearly three weeks ago, competing at the Southern Colorado Open on Mar. 22-23 in Pueblo. The Mavs finished in a tie for eighth place with a 36-hole score of 625 after sitting in 12th after the first day.
Payton Panzeri led the Maverick effort, tying for 16
th place overall with a 36-hole total of 152 (+8).
Season-Best
The Mavericks finished with a team score of 300 in the second round of the Southern Colorado Open, their best of the entire season, on Mar. 23.
Six different Mavericks, including
Hayden Hawley, who was playing as an individual, posted scores in the 70s.
Payton Panzeri led the charge with a 1-over par 73 while
Anju Ogi finished with a 74.
McKenzie Dolph had a career-best of 75 while
Libby Bourassa rounded out the team score with a 78.
Career Bests

Libby Bourassa both set their career-best rounds to help the Mavs to their aforementioned season-best 300 at the Southern Colorado Open.
Dolph, who hails from Pine, Colorado had a career-best round of 75, two shots better than her previous best of 77 from the SMSU Spring Invitational and was her third round in the 70s this season.
Bourassa finished with a 78, a one shot improvement over her former best of 79 at the SMSU Challenge, which the Mavs won as a team. She redshirted last year after transferring from Medicine Hat College in her hometown in Alberta, Canada.
Home Success
The Mavericks have won their home event in each of the past two years and will look to make it three in a row this weekend.
Crystle Querol won medalist honors in 2024 at the Mavs won by 70 shots over Adams State in what amounted to a 2-team dual.
In 2025, the field grew to three teams with the addition of Westminster and Fort Lewis. The Mavs beat Westminster by five shots and Fort Lewis by 17 as
Cassidy Phelan took second place in the individual standings behind the Griffins' Ashley Lam, who won the medalist honors.
Adams State has rejoined the field for this year's event, which will also include Chadron State.
Up Next
The Mavericks will head to Boulder City, Nevada for the RMAC Championships, which begin next Sunday (Apr. 19). The teams will play three rounds in as many days through Tuesday, Apr. 21. The tournament winner will receive conference champion status and the conference's automatic berth in to the NCAA Division II West Region Championships.
