Mavs claim five USTFCCCA All-Region honors

NEW ORLEANS— Four Colorado Mesa University Mavericks earned five combined spots on the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's All-South Central Regional Team for the 2025-26 indoor track and field season, the organization announced this week.

Teo Casados was named in both the 60 and 200 meters.  Van Chambers (weight throw), Joseph Randolph (200 meters) and Solomon Griffen (60-meter hurdles) were also recognized.  Griffen was also singled out as the region's top performer in his discipline.

To earn the all-region accolades, athletes must finish amongst the top five athletes from a given region on the season-long performance lists in individual events or amongst be a member of one of the top three relay teams.

The Mavs are members of the South Central Region, made up of institutions in the Rocky Mountain Athletic and Lone Star Conferences.

Casados, who now has four career all-region honors, was ranked fourth in the region and tied for 12th nationally with his altitude-adjusted 200-meter season-best of 21.10 seconds.  He was also ranked fifth in the 60 with his altitude-adjusted best of 6.73, which he posted to win the RMAC title in a school-record time of 6.69.

He and Randolph, who is second in the region and sixth nationally in the 200 at 20.99, will compete in this weekend's NCAA Division II Championships.  Randolph's actual time of 20.91 was a school-record.

Chambers and Griffen also joined Randolph as first-time all-region picks.

Chambers set a CMU record mark of 18.58 meters (60-11.5) and ranked fourth in the region with that mark.

Griffen, a true freshman, set the region's top time of 7.97 seconds (altitude-adjusted) in the preliminaries of the RMAC Championships.  His actual time of 7.93 puts him second in program history.
