Ball set to join Maverick Men's Basketball

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Head men's basketball coach Mike Dunlap has announced the signing of Wes Ball from Pima Community College on Tuesday (July 8) afternoon. Ball will be an incoming junior and be eligible to play for the Mavericks during the upcoming 2025-26 season.

"Wes gives us another quality size player who was a starter for Pima's nationally ranked team at 35-1," Dunlap said. "Winner. Wes knows about that, a scorer who rebounds, another gifted player that will produce."

Ball collected several honors during his sophomore season where he averaged 12.7 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists while starting in 29 games. He earned All-ACCAC First Team honors along with All-Region I Division II First Team recognition. He picked up ACCAC Player of the Week accolades after averaging 16 points and 6 rebounds over four games including a 27 points, 10 rebound double-double against Dawson CC.

Ball helped lead the Aztecs to a 35-1 overall record and a perfect 18-0 in the ACCAC Division 2 schedule. The lone loss of the season came in the NJCAA Division II Championship semifinals to national runner-up Parkland. Pima wound up placing third at the tournament with a 103-88 win over Kalamazoo Valley in the third-place game.

Ball joins previous commits Kap Laila, Cohenj Gonzales, Clayton Jewell, Ben Henderson, and Yanis Mahoundo in this year's recruiting class.
