LONG BEACH, Calif.— The Colorado Mesa University tennis teams had a Pacific West Conference-leading and school-record setting 20 student-athletes named to the 2024-25 All-PacWest Academic Team, announced by conference officials this week.
The Mavs, who had ten men and ten women selected, also helped the conference set a new record of 2,728 student-athletes, bettering the former record of 1,900 set last year.
To qualify, a student-athlete must have a 3.0 or higher grade point average and have completed at least two semesters at their PacWest institution while participating in one of the conference's 15 sponsored sports.
The Mavericks have been affiliate members of the conference in men's and women's tennis since 2020.
CMU's men co-led the conference alongside Azusa Pacific and Jessup with ten selections. The Maverick women had all ten members of the roster selected, sharing conference-high honors with Dominican.
All of the Mavs' selections are listed below.
Earlier this week, the Mavericks tennis squads set another program record by having 18 selections to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Scholar Athletes while receiving the All-Academic Team honors as a unit.
While getting the job done in the classroom, the Mavericks also fared well on the courts in 2024-25. CMU's women went 17-13 to record their best season since 2014 and won their first two PacWest Tournament matches since joining the conference. CMU's men also recorded their best season since 2016, going 13-10 and were nationally and regionally ranked throughout the spring.
