GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.— Ten Colorado Mesa University Maverick student-athletes have been named to the 2024-25 NCAA Division II Academic All-District® Track & Field/Cross Country Teams selected by College Sports Communicators.
The five Maverick men to receive the honor are
Chase Brown,
Quentin Hartel,
Antone Higgs,
Seth Sherwood and
Izaak Siefken. The women's selections are
Jordan Burnett,
Autumn McQuitty,
Brooke Miller,
Katie Thomson and
Kirstin Williams.
Burnett, Higgs, Siefken and Williams have also been selected to advance to the national ballot for potential Academic All-America honors that will be voted upon by CSC members and announced on July 15 (women's) and July 16 (men's).
Burnett is already a 2-time Academic All-American and has now been named to the Academic All-District Team for the third consecutive year. Miller and Hartel are also repeat selections on at the all-district squad.
To be eligible for the Academic All-District teams®, a student-athlete must have a 3.50 or higher GPA and be at least a sophomore, both academically and athletically. They also must have ranked amongst the top 50 in the South Central Region in at least one track & field event or have registered a top 50 individual performance at the NCAA Cross Country Regional.
Furthermore, institutions are limited to five men's and five women's nominations.
