AUSTIN, Texas— A dozen Colorado Mesa University student-athletes from six different teams were named to the 2024-25 NCAA Division II Academic All-District® Men's & Women's At-Large teams, selected by the College Sports Communicators and announced by the organization this week.
The Mavericks had six men and six women selected from the sports of beach volleyball, men's & women's golf, men's & women's lacrosse and men's wrestling, all of which do not have their own single sport programs. The Mavs' six men's selections include golfer
Cole Beyer, lacrosse players
Mike Edwards,
Deuce Kirschke and
Caleb Schreiber plus wrestlers
Dayson Torgerson and
Gus Dalton. The six women's selections include lacrosse players
Justine Anderson,
Emme Rezoski and
Sydney Skinner, beach volleyball players
Riley Daugherty and
Barett Nolan and golfer
Cassidy Phelan.
To be eligible for the Academic All-District teams®, a student-athlete must have a 3.50 or higher GPA and be at least a sophomore, both academically and athletically amongst other athletic qualifications. Institutions are limited to six men's and six women's nominations.
Of the 12 Maverick selections, four have been selected as finalists for CSC At-Large Sports Academic All-America® honors, which will be selected by a vote on by CSC members on the national ballot. Those honors will be announced on July 8 (women's) and July 9 (men's).
The Mavs' finalists include Anderson, Beyer, Dalton and Torgerson. Anderson was a First Team Academic All-American® in 2023-24. She also joins Beyer, Dalton and Phelan as repeat Academic All-District® selections.
The At-Large teams will be made up of the top overall student-athletes from ten men's and 12 women's sports listed below. The Mavericks sponsor six of those sports.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
