Baseball
  • The Mavericks (36-11, 26-4 RMAC) won three games in the 4-game series over MSU Denver to win a 13th straight and 28th overall RMAC Regular Season Championship.
  • The Mavs, ranked 12th in last week's NCBWA National Poll, will once again host the RMAC Tournament, starting Wednesday at The Diamond at Hamilton Ballpark.
  • This will mark the 12th straight time that the Mavs have hosted the tournament.
  • The top-seeded Mavericks will play No. 6 seed UCCS (23-24, 12-18 RMAC) in the first round and Game 2 of the tournament at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
  • Games will be played at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday & Friday.
  • Saturday's championship game and if-necessary games will be played at 1 and approximately 5 p.m. (one hour after championship), respectively.
  • CMU has won 22 RMAC Tournament titles, including the last two in 2023 and 2024.
  • The Mavs hit .390 in their final regular season series against the Roadrunners.
  • Cameron Cartwright hit .538 (7-13) with two doubles, two home runs and eight RBIs.
  • Paul Schoenfield extended his hitting streak to 26 games, going .500 (9-18) over the weekend.  He also scored eight runs and hit two doubles.
  • The Maverick pitching staff limited the Roadrunners, who were one of the top hitting teams in the country, to a .210 batting average and posted a 5.91 ERA.
  • Liam Hohenstein won Game 3 of the series, going five innings while allowing just three hits and two runs while striking out seven.  He posted a .150 opposing batting average.
  • The Mavs won all seven of their home series and went 24-3 at home during the regular season.
Softball
  • The Mavs (39-15) took second at the RMAC Championship Tournament over the weekend in Lakewood, Colorado defeating MSU Denver and UCCS while falling to top-seeded and champion Colorado Christian twice.
  • The Mavericks then learned on Monday morning that they earned the No. 6 seed in the South Central Regional Tournament, the first of the three stages of the NCAA Tournament.
  • CMU will open that tournament on Thursday at 5 p.m. CDT (4 p.m. Mountain) against No. 3 seeded and Angelo State, ranked seventh in last week's national poll, in Canyon, Texas.
  • West Texas A&M, the second seed, will host the 4-team, double elimination regional and will play No. 7 seed Lubbock Christian in the opening round.
  • The Mavs will play either West Texas A&M or Lubbock Christian on Friday in their second game.
  • Khloe Kubitschek hit a walk-off home run in the 11th inning to lift the Mavs to a 5-4 win over MSU Denver in the quarterfinals on Thursday.  She was one of four Mavs named to the all-tournament team.
  • Myah Arrietta hit two home runs in that game and three in the weekend, raising her season total to 18 and her career total to 58, which puts her third in CMU history, one behind teammate Ali Distler (59), who ranks second.  Distler was also picked to the all-tournament team.
  • Pitcher Preslee Christensen was also named to the all-tournament team after throwing 15 2/3 innings while appearing in all four of the Mavs' games.  She allowed just four earned runs and 12 hits.
  • The Mavs had six selections to the All-RMAC Teams, which were announced on Wednesday morning.
  • The Mavs' three first team picks were Arrieta, Distler and Makayla Westmoreland.
  • Jessalyn Gallegos, also named as the RMAC Freshman of the Year, and Chloe Valdez were second team picks while Christensen was an honorable mention selection.
  • Valdez also received the RMAC Gold Glove award at second base.
Men's Lacrosse
  • The Mavericks, 13-3, won their way into the NCAA Tournament, claiming an 18-14 road win over ninth-ranked Flagler in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament Championship game on Friday night in St. Augustine, Florida.
  • The Mavs then learned on Sunday evening that they received the No. 8 seed out of the South Region for the NCAA Tournament, which begins Wednesday afternoon.
  • The Mavs will now be headed back to Florida and will play at undefeated and national poll No. 1 Tampa (18-0) at 4 p.m. EDT (2 p.m. Mountain).
  • The NCAA Tournament berth is the second in program history and the Mavs' first since 2018.
  • Shaden Shields was named as the Peach Belt Tournament MVP after making 48 saves in the three tournament games.  He had 16 in the win over Flagler.
  • Eleven different Maverick scored goals in the win, including Connor Jensen, who had three goals and two assists to join Shields and four other Mavs on the All-Tournament team.
  • Faceoff specialist Mike Edwards also had a monster night, winning 19 of his 27 draws while scooping up a career-high 12 groundballs.  He also scored two goals for the first time in his career.  JJ Brummet, Dillon Pless, Nik Moore and Erich Petersen all scored two goals apiece as well.
  • Brummett, Edwards, Petersen and Wolfi Gottschalk were all named to all-tournament team as well.
Outdoor Track & Field
  • A select group of Mavericks will conclude the regular season this week in Azusa, California competing in the Franson Last Chance Meet, hosted by Azusa Pacific from Thursday-Saturday.
  • The meet will be the final opportunity for Maverick athletes to qualify for or tune-up for the NCAA Division II National Championships, which will be held May 22-24 in Pueblo, Colorado.
  • Selections will be made on Tuesday and will include the top 22 declared student-athletes in each individual event from the season-long national performance lists.
  • The top 16 multi-event (heptathlon/decathlon) and top 16 relay teams will also be selected.
  • Three Maverick individuals plus the women's 4x100-meter relay team currently sit inside those cutoffs in Teo Casados (3rd, 200m), Antone Higgs (9th, Long Jump) and Gaby Horton (19th, 100m).  The relay team ranks 14th.
Men's Golf
  • The Mavericks will make their seventh straight NCAA Regional Tournament appearance this week, playing in the South Central/West Super Regional Championships Thursday through Saturday at the Victoria Club in Riverside, California.
  • The Mavs were seeded fifth out of the ten South Central Region teams, who will be joined by ten West Region teams.
  • The top six teams will advance to the NCAA Division II National Championships in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
  • The Mavericks are ranked 27th as a team in the latest SCOREBOARD national rankings and are receiving votes in the latest Bushnell/Golfweek Division II Coaches Poll.
  • Cole Beyer is ranked seventh nationally in the SCOREBOARD individual rankings.
Women's Lacrosse
  • The Mavericks (11-6) officially saw a historic season come to an end on Sunday night when the Mavs were left out of the NCAA Tournament field.
  • The Mavs were ranked sixth in the latest Midwest Regional rankings, released Wednesday, but were bumped out of the 24-team field (six from each of the nation's four regions) by unranked Ashland, which won the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament to receive that league's automatic qualification spot.
  • The Mavs won their second RMAC Regular Season Championship in three years this season and hosted the RMAC Tournament for the first time in program history.
  • They also dominated the RMAC Postseason Awards, winning five of the six RMAC's Major Awards while placing a program-record six members on the First Team All-RMAC squad.  Ten Mavs were honored in total.
