GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Mesa University head men's basketball coach
Mike Dunlap announced the signing of Oklahoma City University transfer Clayton Jewell on Thursday (May 1) morning. Jewell will be eligible for the 2025-26 season and will have two years of eligibility with the Mavericks.
The Darwin, Australia native averaged 13.1 points, 8.7 rebounds per game and shot 57.3 percent from the field during his sophomore season with the Oklahoma City Stars. He also finished the season with 17 double-digit scoring nights.
"Clayton Jewell's talents will be quickly evident to Mav Nation, big, quick, and strong," Dunlap said about the 6-8 big man. "Also, having two years at Oklahoma City, gives us a seasoned veteran. Clayton lifts the profile of our recruiting class and team."
Jewell finished his sophomore season with 11 double-doubles including a 24-point, 11 rebound effort against Nelson on November 14. He added a season-high 17 rebounds against Central Christian on February 1. During his freshman season, he was named to the All-Sooner Athletic Conference Freshman Team after averaging 7.3 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.
Jewell is the third recruit signee for the men's basketball program and joins Ben Henderson and Yanis Mahoundo as a part of this year's class.
