BOULDER CITY, Nev. – The Colorado Mesa men's golf team fired a second straight 2-under, 286 as a team in the second round of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament at Boulder Creek Golf Course on Monday (Apr. 21) afternoon.
The Mavericks didn't gain any ground or lose any ground on the team leaderboard as they sit in fifth place and trail fourth place Fort Lewis by seven strokes. CMU sits at 4-under, 572 for the tournament and the ability to climb into the top three on the leaderboard.
Everyone is chasing top ranked Colorado Christian who shot a 21-under, 267 which is the RMAC Championship course record. They have a seven-stroke lead on Colorado School of Mines who is in second at 26-under, 550.
Luke Wagstaff had the Mavericks low round of the day with a 3-under, 69. The score helped Wagstaff soar up the leaderboard by seven spots into 17
th place. The McKinney, Texas native had a pair of birdies along with an eagle on the par-5, 551-yard No. 4.
Sophomore
Dylan Everett had a solid day on the course for Colorado Mesa. Everett finished with five birdies against three bogeys and went up seven spots on the leaderboard following his 2-under, 70. Everett is now in a tie for 22
nd on the leaderboard.
Cole Beyer shot a 1-over, 73 and Baptist Laborde shot a 2-over, 74 in their final round to round out the Maverick scorers.
Colorado Christian's Sangha Park leads the tournament's medalist race and tied the course record with a 10-under, 62 and sits at 15-under, 129 for the tournament. He leads his teammate by five strokes.
The Maverick group will be paired with Fort Lewis, South Dakota Mines and Westminster with tee times scheduled to begin at 7:09am PDT.
