GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. –
Taylor Scott has won the RMAC women's lacrosse Summit Award, the conference's highest academic honor, for the second consecutive season as the conference office made the announcement Friday in advance of the start of the RMAC Tournament.
Scott, a senior, will be honored in a pregame ceremony ahead of CMU's semifinal game on Friday night at 7 p.m., alongside CMU's two major award winners in RMAC Attacker of the Year
Justine Anderson and Defender of the Year
Kelsey Viger.
The Summit Award is given to the student-athlete with the highest GPA competing at the site of each sport's respective championship, meaning all players from the four teams competing in this weekend's tournament were eligible.
The Parker, Colo. native and Valor Christian High School alum has a perfect 4.0 GPA through 108 completed credits as a counseling psychology major. On the field, Scott earned her third consecutive Honorable Mention All-RMAC selection after racking up 18 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers.
The Mavericks are the No. 2 seed in the upcoming RMAC Tournament and will face No. 3 seed UCCS in the semifinal round on Friday at 7 p.m. With a win, the Mavs would face the winner of top seed Regis and No. 4 Westminster in the finals on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Summit Award winners must have competed in 20 percent of available competitions throughout the current season. All GPAs are based on a straight-grading scale to ensure consistency among nominees. All ties are broken by the total number of credit hours completed through the most recently completed semester.
To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must be a sophomore or above and have participated in their sport at their institution for at least two years. Student-athletes must be active members of their teams, traveling and competing at the RMAC championship event. Graduate students are eligible to win the award.
