Sharrar, Gonzalez lead Mavericks on All-America and All-Region Teams

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Five Colorado Mesa baseball players earned regional and national recognition this week as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and D2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) released a portion of their postseason lists.
 
Senior outfielder Robert Sharrar earned NCBWA First Team All-America, NCBWA All-Region First Team, and D2CCA All-Region First Team after a spectacular final campaign as a Maverick.
The Newbury Park, Calif. native batted .406 with 22 doubles, two triples, and 21 home runs and finished amongst the nation's top-5 in RBIs, total bases, and hits. The RMAC Co-Player of the Year earned three straight RMAC Player of the Week honors from March 19 to April 2.
 
Second baseman Jonathan Gonzalez picked up NCBWA Third Team All-America honors along with NCBWA All-Region First Team and D2CCA All-Region First Team accolades. The senior batted .409 with 13 doubles, three triples and nine home runs with 57 runs driven in on the season. The Brawley, Calif. native recorded 15 hits in the four-game series with Adams State and had an eight RBI game against Adams State on May 3.
 
Junior Cole Seward earned D2CCA First Team All-Region and NCBWA Second Team All-Region after making 14 starts in the Maverick rotation. The Plancentia, Calif. native went 9-2 with a 6.40 ERA in 70 and a third innings pitched with 75 strikeouts. He tied for the RMAC lead with nine wins and was named to the RMAC All-Tournament Team selection recording a career-high 10 strikeouts in seven innings pitched in game two of the tournament for the Mavericks. The righty earned RMAC Pitcher of the Week (Feb. 27) following his start against Northwest Nazarene.
 
Lefty pitcher Caleb Ruter earned D2CCA All-Region Second Team honors following his first season at Colorado Mesa. The Arvada, Colo. native went 5-1 with a 4.53 ERA in 55 and two-thirds innings pitched with 62 strikeouts in 13 appearances and nine starts. He dad a season-high nine strikeouts against CSU Pueblo on April 6 and followed it up with eight strikeouts against the ThunderWolves in the RMAC Tournament.
 
Ethan Voss earned NCBWA All-Region Second Team honors as a relief pitcher after a solid first season with the Mavericks. Voss finished the season with a 5-1 record with four saves and a 2.98 ERA in 51 and one-third innings. The Burnsville, Minn. Native had a season-high nine strikeouts in relief against Colorado Christian on March 23 and earned a save in the RMAC Tournament against CSU Pueblo after allowing one run in three and a third innings pitched.
