#2 Mavericks travel to the San Luis Valley for four games

SERIES HISTORY WITH ADAMS STATE
The Mavericks and Grizzlies will meet up for their annual Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference series this weekend beginning on Thursday at ASU Baseball Field.

Colorado Mesa swept the season series last season winning all four games at The Diamond during the regular season and then added a RMAC Tournament win. The Mavericks scored 11 or more runs in all five matchups.

The Mavericks split with Adams State the last time the two teams met in Alamosa. Colorado Mesa outscored Adams State 86-55 in the four games. They did pick up the season series win 3-2 after a win in the RMAC Tournament.

SCOUTING THE GRIZZLIES
The Grizzlies struggled during the non-conference portion of the schedule but bounced back with a series split with Mines and won the series against Colorado Christian. They are 5-11 in the conference and are battling for the sixth spot in the standings.

Osaias Hinojosa is one of the top newcomers in the conference with a .427 average and seven home runs. He had a two home run game against Mines.

Joseph Marek leads the Grizzly staff with a 3-4 record and a 10.85 ERA. Marek pitched seven innings and struck out seven against Colorado Christian two weeks ago.

EL PRESIDENTE STRIKES AGAIN
Colorado Mesa freshman Jackson Eisenhauer was named the RMAC Pitcher of the Week after his performance against Colorado School of Mines during the weekend sweep at The Diamond. It is the second time this season he has won the weekly honor.

Eisenhauer pitched five shutout innings and allowed just two hits in his start. He struck out four and issued one walk while the Orediggers batted .118 aganst him. He retired nine straight from the end of the first inning to the fourth inning he worked.

For the season, Eisenhauer is 4-1 with a 2.48 ERA. He has pitched 32.2 innings and is tied for the team lead with 34 strikeouts.

A RACE TO 30
On Sunday, Colorado Mesa became the first team in NCAA Division II to reach 30 wins this season. They are the only four-year school in the country with 30 wins as USC leads Division I with 26, Shenandoah leads Division III with 22 and Georgia-Gwinnett leads NAIA with 27 wins.

The only team to reach 30 wins faster was the 2021 team that reached the mark in 32 games. That team finished the season with a 42-7 record.

PITCHING ELEVATED
The Colorado Mesa pitching staff has been a huge bright spot this season as we are a little past the midway point of the season. They are ranked No. 8 in NCAA Division II in ERA at 3.77. That comes from the most hitter friendly conference in the country in the RMAC and with most of their games coming above 4000ft of elevation.

Tampa leads the country at 3.08 at an elevation roughly 10ft above sea level.

The Mavericks are also No. 4 in strikeout-to-walk ratio at 2.73 and No. 12 nationally in walks per nine innings pitched at 3.50.

THE BACK STOPS
Rocco DiFrancesco and Noah Neufeld have split time this season as the team's primary catcher. DiFrancesco has played in 21 games and started in 19 while Neufeld has played in 18 and started 15 during the year.

Both have earned praise for handling the pitching staff that has an ERA of 3.77 and have thrown out 35 percent of all would be base stealers.

The duo combined to bat .339 (38-for-112) with seven doubles, a home run and 33 runs driven in. They have an on-base percentage of .452 and an OPS over .900.

THAT'LL DO
During the series with Colorado School of Mines, the Mavericks batted .431 as a team and had a team ERA of 2.10 in the series sweep. They stole 14 bases and drew 22 walks with only 17 strikeouts.

The Orediggers batted just .215 off the Maverick pitchers while the pitchers had an 11.77 team ERA.
