#3 Mavericks complete the four-game sweep of Mines

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The No. 3 Colorado Mesa baseball team completed the four-game sweep of the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers on Sunday (Mar. 29) afternoon with a 7-1 win at The Diamond at Hamilton Ballpark.

The Mavericks jumped out to the early 4-0 lead as Trevor Tse hit a two-run single through the left side. Colorado Mesa scored two more runs in the inning from a Mines error.

Tse added to the run total with a sacrifice fly that brought home Kolby Felix to make it 5-0 after two innings.

Tse finished the game 1-for-3 with three runs driven in.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Cameron Cartwright hit an RBI single through the left side that brought home Felix. That made the score 6-0 after four complete innings.

The Mavericks final run of the day came in the bottom of the sixth inning when Ezra Farmer singled up the middle, bringing home Rocco DiFrancesco.

Simon Lunsford earned his first collegiate start of his career. Lunsford allowed one hit, walked one, and struck out on in two innings of work. He did not factor into the decision.

Bridger Clontz earned the win in relief after pitching a scoreless third inning.

Seven total pitchers threw in the series finale, and they combined to scatter seven hits and strike out eight while only allowing one run.

Colorado Mesa improved to 30-3 on the season and remained a perfect 16-0 in the conference. They extended their winning streak to 12 games and 29 in a row against NCAA Division II competition.
