Dombro Wins Third Summit Award

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Call it a dynasty.

Colorado Mesa guard Levi Dombro has once again been named the RMAC Summit Award winner, marking a personal three-peat of the conference's highest academic honor for the fifth-year guard.

The RMAC Summit Award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA that is also competing at the site of the finals for their respective sport's championship. Summit Award winners must also have competed in 20 percent of available competitions throughout the current season.

Dombro, an environmental science major with a political science minor, has a perfect 4.0 GPA through 120 academic credits. In addition to his three Summit Awards, Dombro was named RMAC First Team All-Academic last season and is a two-time member of the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll.

On the court, Dombro is a two-year team captain. He has appeared in a career-high 15 games this season and recently made his first career start on Senior Night against Western Colorado on March 2. In 15 appearances totaling 64 minutes of action, Dombro has accumulated 10 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, two steals and a block while shooting 50 percent from the field (5-for-10).

Dombro will accept the award alongside CMU's other major award winners in a pregame ceremony prior to the RMAC Tournament semifinal in Brownson Arena on Friday night. Top-seeded Colorado Mesa is set to take on No. 4 seed Black Hills State in the first of two semifinals at 5 p.m., with the winner advancing to Saturday night's championship game at 6 p.m.
