On September 7^th our CMU cycling mountain bike team traveled 23 of riders to Durango to compete on the 2024 Squawker MTB competition hosted by the Skyhawks. During the two days competition we saw our mountain bike team compete in events such as Cross Country, Dual Slalom, and Short Track Cross Country.
 
The first event of the competition was Cross Country, our CMU mountain bike men's team put on a strong performance with competitive times. Aiden Lemorande, was our strongest rider for CMU, finishing third just 7.77 seconds shy of first place. Shortly after Aiden we saw Ivan Sippy cross the finish line claiming fourth place.

On our women's side in Cross Country, we yet again saw a strong performance. CMU saw four female riders finish top 5. Ruby Ryan claimed second place, Makena Kellerman third, Chloe Fraser fourth, and Samantha Campbell fifth place.
 
Dual Slalom was the second event of the competition. Our men's team performed well and was able to claim three out of the five spots on the top 5 list. Matt Sterling claimed first place, Evander Hughes finishing shortly after claiming second place. In fourth place came Grant Lamson.

Our women's team put on a top performance as they usually do, claiming all top 3 spots. Sophie Allen came in first place, shortly after her came Maylei Leaneagh claiming second place. We saw Erin Bixler coming through the finish line shortly after claiming third place.
 
The last event of the competition was Short Track Cross Country. Ivan Sippy, Henry Cotte and Aidan Lemorande all placed top 5 finishing of the competition strong for CMU. Ivan Sippy claimed second place with a time of 17:03.4.
Our women's team finished the competition similar to the men's team, placing three riders on the top 5 list as well. Ruby Ryan finished second, with a time of 19:27.9, Makena Kellerman came in shortly after and finished third with a time of 19:53.8, and Samantha Campbell came in fifth with a time of 20:58.3.
