About CMU Cycling

CMU Cycling is a nationally competitive varsity cycling program focused on creating well-educated, balanced, and responsible student athletes.

We compete in the Rocky Mountain Collegiate Cycling Conference (RMCCC), and are recognized as a Varsity program, which falls under the jurisdiction of USA Cycling. We currently compete in four collegiate national championships, which include road, track, mountain bike, and cyclo-cross.
Our program currently operates with approximately 50 active student athletes split equally between the Men and Women.

Eligibility Requirements for the Cycling Team Selection:
  • To be eligible for practice, competition, and financial aid, you must be enrolled at CMU or WCCC as a full-time student (12 credit hour minimum during the fall and spring semesters.)
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 tracked twice each semester to ensure students’ academic success.
  • Hold an active USA Cycling collegiate racing license.
  • Comply with all code of conduct standards as determined by Colorado Mesa University. 
All members of the team receive the following amenities annually:
  • Race clothing, casual and travel clothing, and sponsor specific items when available.
  • Travel expenses covered by the team include – transportation, lodging, and race entry fees.
  • Testing and physiological monitoring at the Monfort Family Human Performance Lab is available at no cost to all team members.
  • Use of our power based cycling center, Kreitler roller stations or Wahoo Kicker units.
  • Service Course use for basic equipment and component repairs as well as on campus bike storage.
  • DT Swiss training and racing wheels
  • Other sponsor products as available, which include but are not limited to Kreitler Training Products, Sport in Science for nutrition, and Squirt Cycling Products.
Scholarships are available to team members based on academics-merit scholarships, in and out of state tuition reduction programs, and athletic experience. These items can be combined and are awarded or renewable annually on a case-by-case basis. To be considered for a cycling scholarship award a 3.0 overall GPA is required.

Community service is a prerequisite responsibility for every team member as well as volunteering and other team activities. The Grand Junction community provides overwhelming support for our team, and we in turn support Grand Junction.
