The Colorado Mesa University Cycling Team traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana, to compete in the 2025 USA Cycling Collegiate Track National Championship from September 11–14. CMU was represented by six female and eight male athletes.
Competition began on Thursday, with the Team Pursuit, Flying Time Trial, and Sprint events. In the women's Team Pursuit, the quartet of
Mia Deye,
Cassidy Hickey,
Ella Sabo, and
Alexis Jaramillo earned an impressive second-place finish. On the men's side,
Luke Elphingstone,
Troy Fields,
Brockton Smith, and
Jade Rohde powered their way to third place.
Mia Deye continued her strong form later in the day, taking second place in the Flying Time Trial, with
Ella Sabo and
Avery Cavner also earning podium finishes in the top five. In the Sprint event,
Mia Deye made her third trip to the podium, securing second place, followed closely by
Ella Sabo in third. On the men's side,
Thomas Tabinor placed fourth, adding another top five finish for CMU.
Friday's events featured the Individual Pursuit, Time Trial, and Points Race.
Troy Fields earned a third-place finish in the men's Individual Pursuit with a time of 4:39.5. In the women's Time Trial,
Mia Deye once again led the charge, finishing third, while
Ella Sabo and
Cassidy Hickey followed close behind in fourth and fifth, giving CMU three riders inside the top five.
Saturday's competition brought another round of Time Trials and Individual Pursuits.
Ella Sabo represented CMU well, earning fifth place in the women's Individual Pursuit with a time of 5:16.6.
The championship concluded on Sunday with the Scratch Race and Team Sprint. In the women's Scratch Race,
Mia Deye secured third place, and
Cassidy Hickey finished just behind her to join the top five. In the Team Sprint, the mixed CMU squad of
Mia Deye,
Cassidy Hickey,
Luke Elphingstone, and
Troy Fields delivered a strong performance, taking second place with a combined time of 2:11.4.
After all the races concluded, CMU finished third overall. The team now shifts to the Mountain Bike discipline in preparation to defend their Overall Omnium National Championship title. This year's championship will be held October 9–12 on home dirt at Powderhorn Resort, giving CMU the chance to compete for another national title right in their own backyard.
